Overall ExperienceWhat's This?

Students really seem to enjoy UR and its retention rate, 92 percent, seems to reflect that. Those people who just don’t feel like they fit in transfer out after freshman year, so by the time senior year comes around, everyone in your class likes the school and knows one another, for the most part. There is also an influx of students who transfer into the school at the beginning of sophomore year. The best part about UR is the intimate atmosphere that it has, being a somewhat small, private university. It is a comfortable atmosphere that allows them to study in peace and relax when they need to. You get to know a lot of people and develop close friendships with many of them. The campus is gorgeous and so are the people.

Students at UR rarely have much to complain about and few could see themselves at any other school. They realize how lucky they are to be here and try to make the most of their opportunity by taking advantage of the great education, strong alumni network, and career preparation activities that the school provides. There are students who don’t particularly like the school when they first arrive, but by the end of their time at UR, they don’t regret their original choice to attend.

The school is small enough that you will at least recognize most of the people you pass throughout the day. It’s not so small that you can’t escape or everyone knows your business. And it’s not too big that you would ever feel lost or overwhelmed.

Richmond is good overall. I don’t like the fact that it is as small as it is, and that it is so much like high school in terms of having to worry about your reputation and social standing and all that. It is a lot of fun anyway, though.
