Health & Safety:
Psafe is everywhere. watch out. definitely feel safe on campus, not like theres much to be scared of anyways. USD is secluded and safe as is.
College Freshman 2013-11-13T06:15:59Z
You run the risks of pregaming in your dorm before going out and mostly people eventually get caught. All the partying is done off campus so just wait to really start drinking until you get down to the missions beach and party at a frat house.
College Freshman 2013-11-13T06:12:16Z
Although there is an abundance of wealthy students here, most people I come across are on some sort of scholarship and/or receive financial aid. USD is really great with offering the financial aid that students need.
College Freshman 2013-11-13T06:11:04Z
Professors and teaching quality is great, the student body and total lack of community is what kills the school. I've met some cool people here but the majority of the people are not that friendly and can be very stuck up. I hope to see this change because everything else is so wonderful. The location, weather, education, and quality of life is great, we just need USD to work on it's community.
College Freshman 2013-11-13T06:08:09Z
Perfect...I can not say enough about the local atmosphere and the things to do off campus. There are literally a dozen beaches all within a 20 minute drive. The gaslamp district and little italy and all places downtown are a 15 minute drive. Old town is 5 minutes away. Sea world is 10 mins away and the zoo and balboa park are both really close, too. There is so much to do whether it is bars, clubs, restaurants, cafes, beaches, museums, parks, you name it.

There's definitely a lot of choices for off campus housing. It is pricey, but hey, room and board on campus is pretty steep, too. A lot of upper classmen live together down at Missions beach which is a lot of fun but you need a car to commute to school. public transportation is available for other things but most students find that having a car is a necessity.
College Freshman 2013-11-13T05:56:42Z
campus housing is very nice and the buildings are big and well kept. With that said, our class is bigger than normal and many people were forced into quads and triples this year. So for those people, space is very tight. RA's are pretty strict and theres definitely not any parties in the dorms. You're lucky if you can even get a good pre-game in before the RA's come and right you up

Guys & Girls:
Everybody here is super attractive and smart. They have a lot going for them. However, the student body tends to be stuck up and cliquey. You can certainly find people on campus who don't fit the USD stereotype, though.
College Freshman 2013-11-13T05:48:10Z
Greek life seems to be the only way for people to have a decent social life here. However, it is much harder for guys to get into a frat than for girls to get into a sorority. They are pretty exclusive and they throw parties down at missions beach over the weekends.
College Freshman 2013-11-13T05:46:44Z
The printing doesn't cost much, but it is a bit of a hassle to go to the library to print stuff off. The wifi can be spotty at times but when it works it is always fast. There are a few different places to access computers besides the computer labs including in Aroma's, the coffee shop, and there's normally one available
College Freshman 2013-11-13T05:39:57Z
The food is of good quality, but the meal plan is a total rip off and the accessibility isn't the best. Everything on campus closes by 9 oclock except for the cafe underneath the gym. Nothing besides the dining hall is opened over the weekends and it doesnt open until 10. There aren't that many places to go on campus when things are actually open, either. However, the quality of the food is good. Lots of variety; whether it be sushi or mexican you can always find something to satisfy your craving.
College Freshman 2013-11-13T05:37:11Z
A car or zipcar account is crucial, but once you get the transportation barrier out of the way, the options for off-campus dining are endless!
College Freshman 2013-11-13T05:36:04Z
Although the school is pretty accepting of gays and and people of color, you are of the minority if you fit into these categories. The majority of the campus is rich whites
College Freshman 2013-11-13T05:33:59Z
almost always sunnny. perfect, comfortable weather practically all year. It does get pretty hot for a couple weeks in august but it cools down quickly after that. even in november its been practically 80 all week. The temperature does drop once the sun goes down.
College Freshman 2013-11-11T08:41:56Z
It's sunny and warm almost every day. I kind of miss the changing leaves and the crisp air, but I can't complain.
College Freshman 2013-11-11T08:40:51Z
There is almost no school spirit. Even at our small, subpar sporting arenas, there are always empty seats. The fitness centers aren't too bad, but there is certainly room for improvement. If you're looking for a school with big tailgates and people who paint their faces on gamedays, look elsewhere.
College Freshman 2013-11-11T08:38:46Z
Guys & Girls:
Almost everyone is good looking, but there is a lot of exclusivity. People are very into their appearances and how cool they appear to others. A lot of the friendliness seems ingenuine, but that's not to say there aren't any nice people.
College Freshman 2013-11-11T08:36:30Z
There are definitely people who use, but alcohol is much more prevalent than drugs. If you use drugs, you'll be able to find other people who do as well, but if you don't use drugs, you won't be pressured to take part.
College Freshman 2013-11-11T08:34:56Z
The rules are so strict here. There are no on-campus parties. They'll even yell at you if they believe you have too many people in your room.
College Freshman 2013-11-11T08:33:39Z
Shuttles don't take you anywhere but around the tiny campus. Cars are a necessity to get anywhere in the city. I personally do not have one and I feel very trapped and isolated. There is a trolley station about a twenty minute walk from campus. Buses are a hassle here. We are not in downtown San Diego, nor are we right along the shore, so I desperately wish I had a car.
College Freshman 2013-11-11T08:31:43Z
The people here are very exclusive. I've found it hard to make friends, and I believe it's nearly impossible unless you're involved in greek life. There is no school spirit, and without a car it's impossible to get around the city.
College Freshman 2013-11-11T08:30:29Z
The overall look of the campus is beautiful, but the athletic centers aren't great. There are no common "student hangouts" aside from a few little restaurants on campus, and the library isn't very inviting.
College Freshman 2013-11-11T08:27:53Z
I applied for financial aid, I come from a low income family, and I received no financial aid. One of the worst schools for scholarships.
College Freshman 2013-11-11T08:27:04Z
Health & Safety:
I almost always feel safe on campus, but sometimes the campus police are too present. They're everywhere you look. Good for safety, bad for fun.
College Sophomore 2013-11-09T05:14:01Z
Some of the best food of any campus, beautiful and clean dining halls, so much variety, even two locations on campus for VERY GOOD sushi. Also many places near campus accept dining dollars. It is rather expensive on-campus though.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
