Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Drug use at USD isn’t quite a taboo topic, but very rarely are drugs discussed on campus. Aside from alcohol, marijuana is easily the most common drug among students. There is little to no pressure to partake in any form of drug use. If you want to find it, you can. If you want to avoid it altogether, you can. Anyone uncomfortable or uninterested with alcohol or drug use can find like-minded people. At off-campus parties, there is normally beer and liquor, often supplied by the host, but it is easy enough to turn down a drink without feeling embarrassed or awkward. With marijuana, there is even less pressure to partake. Another common drug, especially during finals week, is Adderall. Many feel the end-of-the-semester pressure and the need to succeed, and students who slacked off during the semester think buying these pills is an easy fix.

Even though drug use at USD is not necessarily common, at nearby San Diego State University, there is a much greater presence of drugs, in quantity and variety. This makes it easy for interested students to access other drugs. Be careful, though—being caught with drugs on USD’s campus is a major offense, and there can be very serious consequences.

Drugs or Drinking?

Drugs are prevalent on our campus, but by "drugs" I mean smoking marijuana. Drinking is definitely more popular and more students take part in it.

Drugs Are Pretty Low-Key Here

As someone who doesn't partake in drug use, I haven't seen much of it at USD which is great because it means that it isn't so rampant as to interfering with the atmosphere. It seems almost of all the drugs used here are marijuana and hooka.
