Here’s the obvious thing about drugs at USD: students don’t like to talk about them very much. Most students do not feel adversely affected by the presence of drugs and aren’t bothered by the occasional use they may witness. Very few USD students feel that it is difficult to avoid drugs if they so desire. Students seem to think that what drug use exists is not a problem or danger to their daily lives. Students are also very wary of intrusions and assumptions involving drugs. Beer and liquor are far more prevalent than hard drugs, and they are more socially acceptable to discuss. Marijuana is the most used drug, and most students agree that it is easy to either avoid or find marijuana. Few students feel threatened by marijuana on campus. More students are put off by the hidden problem of cocaine. Most students are completely unaware of its presence, but the number of students who are aware, and are conscious of the drug, are often far more concerned about the presence of cocaine than marijuana.
As with any college campus, drugs are present, but at USD there is not tremendous social or peer pressure to partake of the scene. The major problem seems to come from idle students with a lot of extra cash to burn. A large percentage of college students, not just students from USD, experiment with some form of illegal substance. At USD, the most common drug, experimental and otherwise, is marijuana. Many younger students find it easier to acquire marijuana than beer or liquor, and this is especially true in San Diego. A high level of marijuana tolerance also characterizes some quarters of San Diego. Despite what anyone may say, students should bear in mind that marijuana possession is still a crime and is taken very seriously by school officials.

Don't Care
N/A
This is not my business. Everyone could do drugs at this school and I wouldn't care. I'm in control of my own body. I could care less if drugs or alcohol are visible.

Drinking Over Drugs
B
Drugs are available and they are consumed, but it depends on who you hang out with. Drinking is definitely more popular among students.

Drug Scene
B+
The drug scene at San Diego is fairly large. The majority of the students drink alcohol. I have only met two people personally who do not drink. The other most common drug among the school is marijuana. There is a large percentage of students who use marijuana. Drugs other than alcohol and marijuana are not common at all. The RAs on campus will enforce the drug and alcohol policies, though if you are smart about it, they will not usually write you up.

Rich Kids Can Afford Anything
C+
Because so many of the students here are spoiled by their parents to some degree, a lot of them can easily afford drugs and are abusers.

The campus is very strict. There are drugs on all college campuses—you can't escape that, but at USD, it is not noticeable.
