Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

USD students are the total package: brains and looks. It's hard to find a more beautiful campus in terms of the location and student population. Guys are typically athletic and spend their free time playing sports and working out. While most guys are pretty good looking, girls find that their egos are way too high, and because of the skewed ratio of girls to guys, the boys know they are in high demand.

Girls always try to look their best. Even in 7:45 a.m. classes, it's hard to find a girl who isn't wearing makeup—this might be because USD is filled with gorgeous girls, and people want to try and stand out. Girls tend to get dressed up for class and wear cute skirts and sandals. At night, short dresses and heels are paired to make flashy outfits. USD girls get a lot of respect, especially with San Diego State or UCSD guys. Even though USD is a Catholic school, most students are sexually active, but there is a healthy balance between everyone's social and academic lives.

Guys and Girls

USD has a reputation of an extremely attractive and well put together student body that will not disappoint. No one will judge you for bumming it to class in sweats occasionally, but the weather's always nice and people typically get dressed for all classes. Off-campus parties are not as hookup oriented as most schools so that's nice.

Good Looking Crowd

The girls and guys here are pretty attractive.

There a number of girls here that do beauty pageants and model etc. but some of the girls that don't are better looking. We have a previous miss teen CA here. I'd give the girls a 9/10.

Given the size of the school it's amazing.

Guys I'd say are above average. But in relation to the girls, the girls have the 1-up overall, there are more of them as well, but than again I'm biased haha

How would you rate the social scene on campus?

Facts

Social Scene

Because USD is a relatively small school, you get to know your peers considerably well. The small classes make it easy to become friends with your classmates, especially people in your major. Moreover, students living on campus in the same residential area develop a strong sense of community and often strong friendships with one another. This can be both a blessing and a curse. It enables small-town gossip, but it creates a sense of inclusion wherever you go.

Hookups or Relationships?

Hookups (especially those aided by liquid courage) seem to greatly outnumber steady relationships around campus, but this perception, right or wrong, might stem from the fact that most couples don't engage in PDA on campus at all and rarely at events or parties off campus. Many people choose either hookups or relationships during their first year and tend to stick to that choice pretty adamantly in subsequent years. Sometimes hookups lead to relationships, but generally people embrace the freedom of college and don't commit to one person.

Dress Code

Overall, people on campus normally look polished and well-dressed. Since it's almost always warm in San Diego, shorts, flip-flops, and T-shirts for guys or cute tops and dresses for girls are pretty standard year-round. When it gets cooler (e.g., down in the mid- to low 60s), jeans, boots, tennis shoes, leggings, sweatshirts, and warm jackets are popular. Students at USD are known for their stereotypically preppy, sometimes-designer clothing and all-around put-together appearances. It's common, though, to see people walking around in workout clothes or yoga pants and a sweatshirt with undone hair.

Did You Know? Of the 8,300 students at USD, minority students make up 31 percent of the campus population, while international students make up 5 percent. The male-to-female ratio is about 40 to 60.
