Just about everyone on the planet seems to want to work here in the summer, so if you want to work, you have to start early, and you usually have to start at the bottom. There are great jobs available in the hospitality industry, as well as some intriguing internships in the local financial and biotech companies. Everyone should spend at least one summer working at the beach, or in a big hotel; it is only for the experience of meeting people from all over the country and the world. If you think there is any chance at all that you would like to settle down in San Diego, start your internships early. Not only is it an expensive place to live, but the job market is highly competitive, especially as you move up on the corporate ladder.
