Good for Incoming Freshman but Limited for Upper Class

If you come from a middle to upper class family expect to receive limited financial aid. However, if you are tops in your high school class, there are some academic scholarships you may be eligible for as well as community service scholarships. There are also scholarship opportunities for business and engineering majors.

Scholarships

The University of San Diego is a high academic school and is somewhat difficult to receive an academic scholarship. It is a great help if you can get an athletic scholarship to supplement your fees.

An Amazing Financial Aid Staff!

Being a private school, the staff at University of San Diego is very easy to get in touch with, and very helpful. I have attended other schools, and I haven't found anywhere where the staff cares about students on a personal level the way they do at USD. I have a unique financial aid situation, and the financial aid office said, no problem, just send us a letter explaining what you need and we'll take care of it!

Advice on Financial Aid

A financial aid package is designed to meet the financial need of each individual student—the primary factor in awarding most financial aid. Each package may consist of funding from one or more programs and can vary depending on established need and/or merit. For USD scholarships and grants, consideration is given to the applicant’s academic achievement, character, and potential. Undergraduate merit scholarships (Alcala, Trustee, Presidential, and Torero Pride) and diversity scholarships (Circle of Excellence) are automatically determined by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. There is no application for these. They are awarded in early March. For more USD-sponsored scholarship opportunities, see www.sandiego.edu/financialaid/scholarships/university_scholarships.php. Note that these scholarships are limited and highly competitive. It is reccommended that you apply for independent scholarships made available by your school, county, state, or other organizations.
