Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Most students at USF are divided over how strict the campus is, particularly in regards to alcohol in the dorms. While most claim to get away with it, those who are caught face harsh penalties, some of which include attending substance abuse meetings, counseling, and University probation. If a student is caught doing drugs, Public Safety is immediately called, and that is embarrassing enough in itself to not do drugs on campus.

RAs live on every floor in every residence hall, and they are the ones who catch people most of the time. They are also the first authority figure for campus residents. Whether it’s being too loud and disrupting neighbors, having incense or candles, or using an illegal substance, RAs typically catch offenders and subsequently have to report them to higher authorities. As college students themselves, RAs can often be as guilty as anyone else can. The most important thing to remember is that if you keep your misconduct to yourself, you won’t get caught. Don’t come into the dorms so drunk that you can’t walk, don’t blast your music, and hide your candles or incense so the RA on duty won’t have to write you up.

Kind of Sucks

Some RAs (Resident Advisors) will be lenient, while others will be ridiculous in enforcing the rules.

I've Yet to be Punished

I have not been on the receiving end of a punishment, but I probably should have been a few times. This leads me to believe that it's not too bad...

Campus Police Can Be Annoying

Like many other schools, alcohol is not allowed in the dorms. Although some RAs can be pretty "chill", there are others who will call campus safety and have you written up if they find out that you drank or smoked weed in your room.
