Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

USF is one of the most beautiful campuses in the world, with views of the Golden Gate Bridge, the San Francisco Bay, downtown, the Pacific Ocean, and the colorful city of San Francisco. All around campus, you’ll find gorgeous flowers, trees, and exotic foliage. As far as buildings go, the majority of the campus is fairly old. Only the library, Koret Recreation Center, and Saint Ignatius Church appear new and refurbished, but this is not to say the older buildings aren’t aesthetically pleasing, as well. The problem with the older buildings shows most on the inside. Students tend to complain that the dorms have an unpleasant odor and that the facilities are generally run-down or outdated.

The University recognizes that space is limited and renovations need to happen as quickly as possible. Future plans include remodeling the War Memorial Gym, Campion Hall, Cowell Hall, Fromm Hall, the baseball field, and the Presentation Theater. In addition, USF wants to add desperately needed parking spaces, as well as improve pedestrian walkways. While the plans for the future should push the campus into the 21st century, the process will be expensive.

Beautiful All Around

Transferring from a UC to a private school may have been the best thing I've ever done in my life. The campus is beyond words. The facilities are well kept and the campus is aesthetically pleasing.

Library

The library at USF is awesome. There is three floors that I haven't even gotten to tour yet. There is alot of computer, both Mac and PC. In the library is an Atrium, where it is always completely silent. I do all my studying in there.

Nice Campus

Campus is small and has beautiful views of San Francisco, and if you're up on Lone Mountain or any high building, you'll see some spectacular scenery! The facilities are good, but sometimes they might need more maintenance. If fewer toilets were automatic, I think the bathrooms would be cleaner and more welcoming because the automatic toilets don't always work and you know what happens. Besides that, everything is in great shape! The Koret Center is gorgeous, but the locker rooms could be cleaner. Gleeson Library is good, and campus activities are fun. It's a welcoming campus as far as my experience has shown me.

Favorite Things To Do

During Dead Hour, most students eat lunch outside in Harney Plaza. On warmer days, or just days when it’s not raining, the Plaza will feature a live band or DJ, giving students and faculty a musical interlude between classes. Vendors also use this popular plaza to sell items like jewelry, scarves, and handmade clothing. The computer labs, especially Parina, are always crowded, and most students like to hang out in various locations in the UC to study and socialize.

Students at USF can grab an espresso or a smoothie on their way to class, a bite to eat in almost every building, work out, swim in an Olympic-sized pool, and hear live music before the sun sets. At night, students can study in the library atrium, check out a student production, or watch a movie on a silver screen in Harney Plaza.
