Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

When Mark Twain said, “The coldest winter I have ever known was the summer I spent in San Francisco,” he was absolutely correct. Summer and winter are practically indistinguishable, with chilling winds and lots of fog at night. Winter also has quite a bit of rain—never snow—which lasts from November to February, so it is suggested that you bring a pair of rain boots for the occasional storm. You can’t rely on the weather here, unless you rely on it being unpredictable. In the midst of a freezing summer, San Francisco can reach temperatures as high as 100 degrees. The best advice is to always wear layers because while most days are mild, the temperature can change in an instant.

Look forward to lots of sunny, clear days during the beginning of the fall semester. Shorts and capri pants are awesome for this weather. During this time campus is crowded with scantily-clad students sunning themselves on every grassy patch of  campus. In the summer, be sure to have a sweater handy, and as for the rest of the year, wear light layers, and you’ll never
be unprepared.

Fog Rolls in and Out of the City by the Bay

I am a Los Angeles native and have been loving this fog that seems to roll in at a certain time and roll out 20 minutes later. I love that the weather is so unpredictable, which keeps me on my feet! I love walking to class and finally get to make use of some winter wear which was so foreign to me before. The fog is like a mysterious game and my friends and I make bets to see how long it will stay . My all time favorite aspect of the weather is how the fog will cover half of the Golden Gate bridge and the top sticks out as if you are on top of the clouds. The fog just eats the city and makes a whole new life above it all.

"The Coldest Winter I Ever Spent Was a Summer in San Francisco"

San Francisco is infamous for the fog, which is well-deserved. However, the city is also known for having an "Indian Summer," which means that the warmest time of the year is during the fall. The temperature is somewhat constant, which is nice.

Non- Existent

I always have fun regardless of the weather. Classes are very close to the dorms, so when it rains, its not a big deal. It never snows,it would be nice if it did though. And, the average temperature is about 65 degrees year around with a few weeks in the mid-70s to low-80s. The beach is an option most of the time.
