The atmosphere in the city of Columbia is active and fun. There is always something to do, and a lot of students are around because of the university. Even with lots to do in Columbia, you can get to Charleston in an hour and a half!

The polce force is strict about underage drinking and drugs. Dorms are also strict and do not allow outsiders to come in. The most strict thing on campus is parking. Campus parking police have no mercy on writing tickets.

There are a few nice places but most of the buildings are older so don't expect anything spectacular (but don't expect anything horrible either).

It's generally nice but I feel like even when the sun is shining that it could rain at any moment, but I'm just really used to Charleston weather

Guys & Girls:
A part of me feels like almost everyone's the same. The guys and girls are carbon copies of eachother and there are only a few little pockets of people with distinctive differences. It's just not very diverse but I'm used to it now.

The Computer Labs at The University of South Carolina-Columbia are excellent. There's plenty of computers for a variety of uses. However during exam times, one will find these areas to be rather crowded. That is why its great to have your own PC.

There simply aren't enough spaces for that many people. You're better off walking to class and saving the gas. I guess the only plus is that you're classes are right there next to your parking spot

The school is downtown near the Vista and there are many fine dining restaurants located there. There are also college student affordable places that many students go to enjoy lunch wit their friends.

Alcohol is much more popular than illicit drugs. The university has a strong enforcement policy on campus against drugs and alcohol. You may hear people mentioning marijuana use but it is kept very discrete. However, off-campus apartments can and often do become the scene of drinking parties and marijuana use. It is up to the student to beware of these situations if they do not participate.

Our campus has a shuttle system that is usually fine but sometimes it is late. There are also 3 railroad tracks running through town and this can also hamper traffic. There is a city bus system but it is not reliable and its funding could be cut any day now.

The facilities at USC are exceptional. The library has seven floors with various volume levels allowing students to find the best learning experience. Additionally, Strom is one of the best athletic facilities in the country with indoor and outdoor pools, and indoor track, three floors and the opportunity to create energy for the building through elliptical and treadmill use.

USC's campus life is magnificent. The library has seven floors, each with a different volume level allowing students to find the best environment for them. Additionally, the Main dining hall is equipped with everything from food, to books, to ballrooms for meetings and events. Also, Strom is the best athletic building in the country with three-floors, indoor and outdoor pools, a outdoor sand volleyball court, an indoor track and the opportunity to create energy for the building through treadmill and elliptical activity. There are 300+ clubs and organizations including an extraordinary Greek life and the opportunity to create your own organization.

The Greek life at USC is a great way to get involved, find new friends while also giving back to the community. All chapters have several philanthropies that they are passionate about. On the other hand, some of the fraternities on campus have given Greek life a bad name due to some involvement in illegal activity that has gotten them kicked off of campus. Overall, Greek life is one of the best decisions an individual can make. It is a new home

I've wanted to be an educator all of my life so I LIKE THE COURSES LERTAINING TO MY CAREER PATH.

I have to wait until July 15 to find out if I made it into the professional program which I think is horrible because I would like to know at the end of the spring semester.

I enjoy taking my major, and satisfied with what they are teaching me. There is plenty of support when you need it, but you have to advocate for yourself. They aren't going to help you without asking which can be daunting. Some of the professors make terrible advisers, but if you are on your game you will know what to do with ease. The professors are extremely knowledgeable, and only a few suffer from communication skills. That was something I was expecting in engineering though.
College Senior 2013-05-29T14:22:29Z
In Engineering I don't get to many choices on professors provided, but so far the good ones out way the bad. Nor do I have much curriculum choices. The Gen-ed requirements have been frustrating for me because of bad professors in certain subjects.
USC just switched its registration process. This has been a headache for continuing students like me, but may be easier for new students.
The Library is a great place to student, and is something I pride the school for having.
College Senior 2013-05-29T14:18:54Z
Their is bus system running all the time around USC's campus. Once you learn the system it can provide an easy way to get around campus. Some students never use it, but if you are engineering student you become familiar with it fast due to the Engineering building be off campus. I give it a B grade because sometimes the online system never works. If it was always on I would know when a bus is arriving.
There are also evening shuttles, but they are slow.

Plenty of fast food options near campus. Their are plenty of fine restaurants around Columbia SC, but you have to look for them.

With my relation to the Greek system, I feel like the stereotype continues. If it were for this affiliation, I feel as though I would not be around alcohol or drugs as much. However, alcohol is far more popular than any drug. I do know numerous people outside of the Greek system who do partake in these substances.

I was able to receive some financial aid through my school. Being considered an out of state student until now, I did not receive enough to be helpful. Although the process was simple enough. However, I have not dealt a great deal with financial aid other than the online process.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
