The computers themselves are great because they all have access to any resource you need provided by the university. The internet is pretty fast and they are open to all students. The only downside is that University provided computers/labs are very crowded during busy weeks like midterms and exams week.

Financial aid given by the school is very limited unless you qualify for need-based grants/scholarships or have an exceptional SAT/ACT score. I come from a middle class family, I did well in high school, got a 1220 on the SAT and a 29 on the ACT and received only $500 a year from the school. The only upside is that I did not have to apply for it. As the school reviews your application for acceptance they will award you with the correct amount of scholarships and it shows up on your student USC profile immediately.

The transportation at USC is reliable. They have multiple bus systems that run daily. They also have parking garages throughout the campus. If one did not have a car it is relatively easy to get rides.

I am an education major. The classes are beneficial and the professors are amazing. I have truly enjoyed my major. I apply myself and I have been getting the grades I want

The food is cafeteria style for most places. I normally describe it as hit or miss.

The professors and classes at the university vary. Some are very tough while others are not. The most popular study area at USC is business and marketing.

The off-campus food can be very good, but with more options closer to campus it would be more beneficial for students. Barely anything is within walking distance.

It is very easy to lose scholarships, get kicked out of housing, or suspended.

Football and baseball games are amazing experiences

it isnt necessary to sneak boys into patterson because you can sign them in which allows them to come over for a period of time.

The drug scene at USC is not particularly great when it comes to drugs excluding alcohol. there isnt very many drug awareness programs regarding the more hardcore drugs. With regards to alcohol, our programs are terrific though. As a freshman you have several programs throughout the year that discuss alcohol and its effects. they do a great job of preparing you for situation regarding alcohol and its consumption. policy enforcement is very strict on our campus too. they make you very aware of the consequences of performing certain actions.

I love my major as well as my school. The Journalism School is an amazing school to be in because there are so many different things that one is able to do. My major is public relations and we are offered a multitude of internships that we can apply to. The professors really want to see us succeed.
College Sophomore 2013-03-19T20:51:18Z
There are a lot of computer labs in the School of Journalism and almost all of the are Mac computers so they are extremely nice and very well taken care of. Printing is not hard to find of you do not own a printer, it only costs ten cents a page which is a pretty good deal if. The network can be a little slow sometimes, but every network gets like that. If you cannot afford a computer, there are plenty of computers on campus for students to use.

I have not had one yet but for the school of journalism i am constantly being sent internship opportunities so i know that when I am ready for one I will have a lot of help getting a great internship.

I wish that I had more access to scholarship information.

There's a variety of food on campus, however some of it is not prepared right and does not taste good. Bates House Diner is probably the worst place to eat on campus. Russell House has a lot of options so that is a plus and Gibbs is always pretty good.

If you are a girl then you are in luck because the newest dorm on campus is Patterson Hall. Other than that the a lot of the dorms are old, have mold, and electical problems. Most are close to your campus and have a nice view if you are on the horseshoe but they lack consistency. Honors dorm, Patterson Hall, Preston College, and the quads are best for freshmen.

Varsity sports are huge, football especially. The only reason this grade is not an A+ is due to the fact that some sports lack support. The dodie is where all the athletes can study and eat and the food is a lot better than that on campus. If you know an athlete then they can actually get you in to eat. The facilities are all generally new with Williams-Bryce staduim to Colonial Life Arena. Aside from the varsity sports and the dodie, the athletic trainers are top notch and are always available to varsity and clut athletes. IM and club sports are huge too due to the fact that almost everyone at the school played sports in high school. The regular students are able to use one of two gyms both equipped with the best weight rooms and treadmills. The newest is Strom which if you look at a picture of the pool speaks for itself.

I'm very satisfied with the nightlife here at USC. Yes- the majority of bars are 21+, but we all know ways around that. Also, many fraternities rent out bars (making them 18+ for the night)every week. Basically, YOU WILL FIND A WAY TO HAVE FUN!

I love greek life here at USC. I was hesitant to rush at first, but now I feel so at home in my sorority. The chapters here are HUGE- which can be a negative, but I prefer to look at the positive aspects of that. It creates so much diversity even within a single sorority. You will find girls you like in any one of them. I recommend rushing with an open mind and heart. You are going to be the most happy with where you feel the most comfortable!

Health & Safety:
Overall, I feel safe on campus. However, for some reason this year has had a very high amount of crime- especially in 5 points. I wish the police would focus less on underage drinking and more on the real dangers out there.
College Sophomore 2013-03-12T23:12:15Z
Permits are expensive. If you get a street permit, good luck finding anywhere to park. It is next to impossible. You don't really need a car at USC. Pretty much everything is within walking distance and if it's not you can carpool or take a cab.
College Sophomore 2013-03-12T23:07:51Z
There are a variety of restaurants available to students if they are willing to walk about 15 minutes to Five Points. Things tend to be affordable to students. Definitely go to Pauley's Front Porch; they have the best burgers!
College Sophomore 2013-03-12T23:03:46Z
The nightlife is typically more for students 21 and older. Downtown there is only one under 21 club. Younger students have to stick to house parties and frat parties.
College Sophomore 2013-03-12T23:01:56Z
There are a decent amount of places to eat on campus. The problem is that they all offer basically the same food. Also, the food rarely ever fits on your meal plan.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
