Many Options – The food isn't always top notch but there are tons of options and something tasty at each of them. There are places scattered throughout campus to get food.

While the classes are certainly challenging and there are some good professors, most of them don't really teach but just give readings and tests. It's not easy by any means.

Sad Excuse for a City – While the campus is nice, the city itself is ugly, boring, and dangerous. The only place really frequented by students is Five Points and its just 21+ for the most part. Fake IDs are widely use but cops and SLED are on the lookout.

Good but Could Definitely Be Improved – The meal plan contains set hours; if you're late getting lunch, too bad that's a dinner swipe now. If your meal costs more than the allotted amount of money you can spend, you're gonna have to pay with extra money. Want food on the weekends? There's only two or three restaurants open, including the cafeteria hot line. Taco Tuesday, Chicken Finger Wednesday, Fried Chicken Friday, a little variety wouldn't hurt, and if you're a vegetarian, forget it. There is hardly any veggie options that could pass as a full meal.

Athletic Centers – On campus there is both the Blatt Gym and the Strom Thurmond Wellness and Fitness Center. Strom, for short, is extremely nice and the building design is very modern and sleek, there are plenty of playing fields outside for soccer, rugby, lacrosse, etc. It also houses outdoor volleyball courts as well as indoor and outdoor swimming pools, and indoor basketball, dodgeball, and soccer courts. All of this including the weightlifting floor and the cardio deck that contains a track, makes for a great place to stay fit.

I Love College. I've made a lot of friends in unexpected places, done unexpected things (like danced in a foam pit in the middle of the biggest street on campus), and learned a lot. Most of the teachers are really nice and love what they do and it makes it easy to enjoy learning. Great study abroad office, and the most advisers want to help you get out of college as fast as possible. There's a lot of available financial aid for those willing to look.

Football and Baseball are the driving forces of our school. With back-to-back national champions in baseball, it's almost impossible to get a ticket to a game. Our biggest rival in Clemson and the rivalry can tear friends and families apart. it's intense. We're very proud of our teams and a lot of people come from a very long distance to attend games. The athletic facilities are mostly pretty top-notch except for track and swimming, but those are going to be rebuilt soon.

Housing Process Is Unfair but Understandable. USC likes to exercise tough love. You're a freshman, you are guaranteed housing. You're anything else and you're lucky if you get it. The university wants to make sure that they retain as many students as possible by making sure that all freshman get housing, but in order to do that, they have to kick out a lot of upper classmen. I like to think of it as "tough love" because ultimately, it's for our own good. Most of the buildings should be redone, but the university is in the process of that, so you can't really complain. The best option is the honors dorms or horseshoe apartments. The worst options are bates, the roost, mcbryde, and south tower. The best social atmosphere is in co-ed dorms. Most of the dorms with the exception of the south campus area are convenient, and the cost really depends. It goes from dirt cheap to way too expensive.

I dont really know anything about the Greek life here on the USC campus.

First of all let me say that I'm not a strong believer in "race". School is very diverse. There are a large number of "white" as well as "black" students here at USC. Then you have to take the percentage of the other "races" that are here as well. Since I have been here, people seem to really like one another no matter what "race" they are.

Hotel Management – So far its pretty easy, but I'm only taking this major for the time being because when I start registering for summer courses I plan on taking Physical Edu classes. Classes, as I have already mentioned, aren't very challenging at this moment. My professors are all very nice and willing to help me with any problems that I have and the facilities are acceptable.

Great Atmosphere. The tailgating atmosphere for Carolina Football is unlike anything you have seen. It is simply wonderful, and true spirited. The fans are usually just awesome people in general. The same goes for baseball. Basketball and other sports don't usually get as much consideration, since our school tends to focus on the first two sports.

Carolina Dining is an average college dining program. Meal plans are required for all freshmen. There are a decent amount of places to eat on campus. However, healthy eating is quite limited as it is either expensive (goes over meal plan $ amount), or lacking in menu options. Options such as Chick-Fil-A, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell all sound great at first, but continuously eating Carolina food will guarantee a typical "Freshman 15". Most of their food, no matter where you go, is full of saturated fats, and promote Pepsi products over healthier options, simply because it is cheaper. Operating hours are quite limited, particularly on weekends (Friday night through Sunday afternoon), as the majority of eating establishments close. The idea of swiping within time frames doesn't always work, since it becomes easy to waste a meal swipe. I recommend getting the least amount of meal swipes per week, or simply ditching the meal plan after Freshman year. It is by far more economical to cook your own food, and significantly healthier than the options offered on campus.

This school has a Zero tolerance policy on underage drinking. It is not tolerated. First time offenders get a letter sent home and recorded on your record, and second time are on probabtion, third time go home

Guys & Girls:
Student Life – There is a wide range/variety of guys and girls at USC. A lot of the students come from different states to attend for the warm weather, the city life, and the sports program.

The facilities at USC are great. Strom Thurmond Fitness Center has everything you could need. Football plays an important part of every students life. We also have the College World Series Champion Baseball team. Two years back to back! There is lots of variety of food in the common area. The city has everything you could ever need and the school spirit is inspirational.

The University of South Carolina gives a good amount of financial aid, but the process to get it was a hassle.
College Junior 2012-02-13T00:00:31Z
I love the strom wellness and fitness center. There are lots of fitness groups to join and workout rooms to use. Also I had a wonderful experience when I was recently sick at the doctors clinic on campus.

The wireless network is very unreliable. It can be very slow and it tends to disconnect from the student user network. There are not many computer labs around campus. The ones that are here have lots of helpful people around and plenty of devices to use.
College Junior 2012-02-10T23:23:01Z
The school can be strict on some aspects, but overall the enviroment is very laid back.

A Lot to Choose from – There are many restraunts within walking distance of campus. Moe's Southwest grill is practically on campus along with Sandy's and both offer great food for low prices. In Five Points, which is also within walking distance from most places, there are several more options for food. The locals love Groucho's Deli, their sandwiches are amazing.
College Junior 2012-02-10T22:45:15Z
Food Is Good – The food served on campus is generally god. They have a lot of options from home cooked meals, fresh tossed salads, to italian, to sushi. They even have fast food chains such as Burger King, Chic fil a and Taco Bell in the main dining building. But if yo like to stay withing the meal plan the meals can become repetitive. Chicken finger wednesday is good, but can become tiring by the second semester.
College Junior 2012-02-10T22:40:49Z
General Campus – The facilities on campus are very good. They offer many different things to help the students for academics, health, and career searches. Beautiful camupus with friendly faculty and staff.

Everything from our athletics to our nightlife make USC and columbia a great place to be!

Health & Safety:
Average Health and Safety – I have never felt unsafe at USC! However, it can get a little scary walking home at night alone, but there are many free cab ride and shuttle options for those who prefer that!
Sorry, there are no reviews.
