Quite Popular. Greek life is fairly popular. A lot of people think it is a social and status thing, as about half of the incoming freshman class rushes.

Absolutely Amazing – As a Greek at USC, I can honestly say that if I could do it again, I wouldn't change a thing. In one semester I have not only made lifelong friends but also memories to last a lifetime! I was doubtful in high school, but I'm so glad I did it. I know my sisters have my back and the difference we make in the community is incredible! You won't regret it :)

Not Gonna Lie – Parking...horrible. Asked for a bike for Christmas.

Couldn't Be Better – USC helped me so much with scholarships that the only thing I pay for is books and parking. Because my father and I have no relationship, this is a huge relief! I can't thank my school enough :)

Lots of Options! There is plenty of variety in the dining halls, and generally the food is very good, though nothing quite beats homemade food. It is difficult to keep track of how healthy the food you're eating is though, so you really have to pay attention to your eating habits.

There certainly is enough parking around campus (sometimes not so as good on streets), but the parking garages and lots are extremely annoying in how they are set up.

Guys & Girls:
For the most part, the greek life controls the school. Most people strive to be part of that group, so everyone tries to imitate them. Not going to lie, USC has pretty attractive students.

Health & Safety:
Pretty Decent – The University has "call boxes" set up all around campus that you can push if you don't feel safe and a school officer will be there shortly. They also seem to have a decent amount of officers stationed around campus.

Variety Variety Variety! The different minority clubs and their ability to have a big voice on the campus is unique to USC. Almost everyday outside of the central cafeteria you will see their festivities or an informing demonstration. Also the ability for anyone to start a club of their own based on practically anything!

Very Humid and Inconsistent Winter – The weather at the University of South Carolina is great! Although in the fall semester the heat can be extreme and the humidity is very high, at other times it poses great for studying on the lawns, exercising outside, or laying poolside at the Strom Thurmond Center. The winter season is very inconsistent! Some days I can wear a pair of rainbows and the next day it's time to pull out the big winter coat.

Sports Are Gamecock Country! Here at the University of South Carolina, we take pride in our involvement of athletics. Whether it's through the school or intramural sports, anyone can get involved! School spirit is a must with the paraphernalia handed out on Greene Street or the tailgates through the city of Columbia. Students and faculty come together to support the Gamecocks on game day and cheer them to victory no matter what the sport. Through the campus you will be able to see posters of your favorite sports, the brand new athletic facilities, or the garnet stickers handed out in support of the teams. I guarantee any student will find an interest of the various sports throughout the gamecock country!

The school just has such a unique setting. It's right in the middle of downtown so anything is within reach. Being in the south, it has everything. You can find your southerners or since you're in downtown you can also find your liberals. It's just a great scene to be a part of. You can find anything there and the campus is just so beautiful. There's a lot of history to learn about it. Also, just taking a walk around the area is well worth your time. It's not boring.

The dining at my school is nice. Not only are there a variety of dining halls spread throughout the campus but there are also fast food places. Even though at times it can become repetitive, the food is good enough.

Health & Safety:
Safety on Campus – I feel very safe on campus. Even though it is in the middle of downtown, it's not an issue. As a freshman, you attend a lecture by the campus police and they describe anything you need to know relative to the campus' safety. All around the campus there are emergency buttons located and the police are just a phone call away. There are always shuttles to drive the students around the campus which helps a lot. Each dorm is informative about keeping doors locked and keeping up with your personal items. With all of that considered, it's a safe campus.
College Freshman 2012-01-01T20:40:37Z
Options Are Great Before 5 – The shuttle system works great until 5 pm then shuts down.
College Freshman 2012-01-01T20:38:51Z
Underage Drinking – Underage drinking is taken very seriously. the campus police, along with the community are all involved in keeping underage students from drinking.
College Freshman 2012-01-01T20:35:57Z
Mostly Open – Even though the campus is in the south, tolerance is very prevalent.

The nightlife is extremely vibrant because there are always many different options of what you can do. Whether it's going to a house party at a nearby apartment complex such as Copper Beach, the Woodlands, or the Retreat, or going to bars or clubs in Five Points or The Vista, there is always something exciting to do.
College Junior 2011-12-31T01:43:18Z
There is a wide aura of races and religions at USC. You can always find someone nearby that is of a different race or someone that speaks a different language.
College Junior 2011-12-31T01:40:27Z
Computer Reliability – The wireless internet seems to be very slow at the University of South Carolina. It often kicks me off the internet or takes a long time to load pages, especially in the evenings when students are out of class.
College Junior 2011-12-29T20:11:49Z
If you want to have a guaranteed space to park in, be prepared to spend $600 for the year on parking. If you want to only spend $75 for parking, be prepared to have to park about a mile away from all of your classes. It's really easy to get a ticket, but they aren't very expensive. You don't need a car, but it's way more convenient.
College Junior 2011-12-29T20:06:37Z
They're there if you need them, but you really should bring your own. You should also make sure to have an ethernet cable because the WIFI can be really slow.
College Junior 2011-12-29T06:43:32Z
Possibly the Most Diverse – The University of South Carolina is a popular choice for many people from the North and South. This school is very diverse, and plentiful in differences between students. There are openly gay and lesbian students who are proud and have their own organization, as well as different ethnic organizations. The students with lower income earning families are helped by the university, as they aid the students with extra funds and scholarships. A huge selection of religion can also be found on campus. The University of South Carolina, is quite possibly the most diverse campus in the nation. As I write this, I can think of many people, that I've met this semester of all race, religion, sexual orientation, and economic background. The best thing about this school is that it is, very accepting of all kinds of diverse students.

Campus is filled with convenient facilities that proves to be of high quality. A few minor setbacks though exist unfortunately here at USC-Columbia. Although there are some flaws that exist, the staff here at USC-Columbia, are very aware of the conditions and try their hardest to improve these condition. The athletic centers and gyms are amongst the most impressive facilities on campus. The library is very nice as well, and the student centers are all over campus. The campus here at USC-Columbia, can serve as a study spot overall by itself: Plenty of room, spacious settings, and relaxed and calmed environment surrounds the campus.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
