Get a Fake – Not the best nightlife if you're under 21, but there are plenty of house parties to go to if you're know people, and theres a party cab that operates which is really nice on weekends. But if you don't know people who have parties you're kinda screwed.

There are options, but some of the dining halls are pretty repetitive. You have to look around and try out the different place offered on campus. Colloquium Cafe is pretty amazing and Cafe Verde is good if you're looking for something different.

Could Be Better – Columbia is actually smaller than what I thought it would be. There's still plenty to do, with two shopping districts and plenty of opportunities on campus. Everthing is relatively close so there is no need for a car, unless you need to go to Target or Walmart. The club scene is alright, helps if you have a fake, because only about two bars allow studnets under 21.

the food choices are good for the first week of school, but once you get to the first month, you are tired of the food.

Football and basketball are very important. maybe even the most important events on campus. Every student wants a ticket to the student section view of our former SEC championships. If you do not support the athletics then you are not a true gamecock.

Cocky Variety – There are many different people on campus from foreign exchange students to a lot of Asians, African Americans, Hispanics, Pacifc Islanders and people who are well off financially to not so much finacially stable students, but no one discriminates. I have attended EMPOWERMENT meetings where they discuss sexuality and religion awareness and to teach us to accept everyone.

Cocky Living – The best options are the Quads--East, South, & West. They are mainly upper classmen and athletes with no certain visitation hours. It is more interactive due to the pre-med and pre-law communities and the foreign exchange students and I was lucky to live there my freshman year. These are usually the toughest to get into because of the high demand for them.
The worst is the Roost because it is a good little walk from campus.
The cost is more to live in apartment style like the quads but it is worth it.

Cockys Finest – The food is good. There is a good selection. My favorite place to eat is Colloquium cafe, I just wish it was open longer. Most places do not fit on the meal plan and I have to pay out of pocket but most of the time it is worth is. Every end of campus has some sort of dining hall. South end had Cafe Verde, main part has the Russell House, Honors college has a dining hall and Capstone has one. The food is always good never slack.

Hot Winters and Summers – The weather is fine because I go to school close to home and its about the same.

Our school is very competitive and the athlets are very athletic and have much support from their fan base.

Suite Style – Suite style is the best style. Traditional living is not what I like because of unsanitary bathrooms and living space.

Great Tailgates at Football Games – I think you have to attend a big school to understand how this sets you apart from the rest.

Great Labs – I usually use my own computer but all the labs that I have been to are exceptioal

Health & Safety:
I have always felt safe at U at South Carolina Columbia campus, both on and off campus. Safe city

Lots of Student Activities – What I have found enjoyable at my school is the school-created activities, from intramurals to movies. There are a lot of fun options available through the university.

The class skipping policies are kind of strict, but that also depends on your professor. There are educational courses for underage drinkers caught and eventually more severe consequences.

Alcohol Dominates – USC loves to party, and drinking comes along with that. Underage drinking is everywhere. There are some people doing other drugs as well.

Close Too Early – There's definitely enough diversity here, but its frustrating trying to eat on Friday and Saturday nights because most everything closes in the early or mid-afternoon!

I Have No Idea – I have no part in the greek life. Other than seeing signs around campus for various organizations and occasionally having a friend mention them it has no impact on my life at all. Greek housing looks nice though. They have some pretty fancy houses.

We Do Ok – USC is mostly white conservative southerners, but we do have a good amount of ethnic or LGBT students and for the most part students seem to be accepting of all different backgrounds and culture.

It Really Depends – Honestly, you luck out sometimes and get a great professor and sometimes it just goes the opposite way. I've had some excellent classes where I learned a lot with an amazing professor, and then I've had classes where it has been a completely joke and a waste of my time. It seems like the core classes are taken less seriously.
College Senior 2011-11-21T08:12:44Z
It Doesn't – South carolina has pretty mild weather and if there is even a chance of snow they usually cancel class.
College Senior 2011-11-21T08:11:22Z
Fairly Lenient – I think it all depends on who you run into. Some officers are extremely strict and others are much more understanding. The fact that freshman dorms have a curfew for guests is pretty stupid though.
College Senior 2011-11-21T08:10:17Z
I'd say about 90% of the campus drinks at least 1 day a week including underage students.

The summers can get very hot (especially if you have to walk to all of your classes). The winters can get extremely cold (again... especially if you have to walk). But there is a nice variety of seasons and it's usually manageable and enjoyable.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
