Health & Safety:
Not So Good – I feel safe walking around during the day time but not at night. It is not safe for girls to walk alone at night. On the other hand there are many police patrolling the streets and multiple "safety poles" all over campus. Downtown (5 Points) has gotten a lot more sketchy over the last year. If you aren't 21 I wouldn't recommend going, cops are all over the place.

Not your typical college town – Columbia is full of great restaurants. Whether you are in the Vista or 5 points there is a wide variety.

Carolina Cab – This new program is great. You can get a free ride home at night if you are student living within a 5 mile radius of campus.

A lot of money is being donated here and it shows. I'm lucky enough to be in the top international business program but there are numerous top programs. Business, Pre-Med, biology, pharmacy and many others are highly competitive degrees.

Guys & Girls:
Just Visit – If you want a sense of campus just visit. If you can't, just know that the campus is diverse but if you are looking for a traditional southern school then this is it. Northerners come here to be a part of southern traditions instead of trying to change them. This is the type of school where you see your kids continuing the traditions you have experienced. Students care about their appearance and it shows. The Strom is always busy with people staying in shape. Intramural's as well Varsity sports are huge here.

Great people,Great Parties, and great philanthropic work. A lot people forget the good deeds Greeks perform for the local community as well supporting major charities. As part of the SEC there is an additional higher standard that has been set when compared to other schools.

Parking on campus is a nightmare. There are very few lots alloted to students with an annual parking pass. But there are many meters and garages that offer paid parking, but they too fill up quickly. The ticketing officers are very strict and are sometimes seen waiting for meters to expire, or writing tickets to students even when they arrive to their car at the time the meter is expiring. Many of the meters are often broken or jammed. There simply is not enough parking available. More parking garages should be built. Especially since the campus is located in the capital city of our state. Students pay way too much money to also have to fight to find a meter and pay it everyday.

Wonderfully Diverse and Culturally Aware Campus – The University of South Carolina does a wonderful job of comprising its population of a group of extremely diverse people. There are many students that are of different racial and ethnic groups than just white. And students are encouraged to branch out and learn about cultures other than their own. Several cultural classes are offered and every student is required to take at least one. Advocate groups are seen all over campus to promote understanding of groups with different religions and backgrounds and even those with different sexual orientation.

Great Off-Campus Living Opportunities – There are several different options for students looking to live off campus and they range from low prices to high, and different levels of privacy but are all of great quality. Parking is always guaranteed and they offer many amenities such as gyms and pools and such. Some are more expensive than others because they are more recently built but all are easily accessible. The landlords are willing to work with students and their financial situations to accomodate and make sure they have an equal opportunity. They are all within great location of campus and most offer free transportation to and from home and campus which is extremely convenient.

I have made such great memories here, and am grateful for the friendships and education that has been offered to me during my time here.

You don't have to be a Greek but if you choose the life you will find the most loyal friends of your life. There are plenty of different types of feats and sororities. You probably hear a lot about Greek life in the SEC and there is nothing else like it. The Greek Village is state of the art and meals at the house make for great bonding. Mixers and formals have a lot of thought put into them and are always memorable. Philanthropy is an important part of the Greek experience.

Plenty of options for meals as well as coffee and snacks.

Guys & Girls:
Good looking student body – The school is big enough so there is plenty of diversity. For the most part it is your typical SEC school. Lots of frat guys and southern belles. The women are beautiful and run the range from the ones who dress for every class to the natural beauties.

I have never been bored here between Greek life ,sporting events, and 5Points this school has everything you could want in a college town. Plenty of concerts as well.

Perfect Mix, Be Careful – There is a perfect mix, unlike other schools, of house parties and downtown nightlife. Five points is good if you are 21 and there are a ton of Greek functions and parties to attend as well. There is always something going on, it can be very easily distracting.
College Senior 2011-04-21T12:05:22Z
Guys & Girls:
More Girls Than Guys – There are a lot more girls than there are guys. They are typically blonde with big boobs, and very southern. The guys are mostly frat boys with Sperrys, high shorts with belts and tucked in shirts, and golf hats. Hmmmmmm.
College Senior 2011-04-21T12:02:42Z
Hard to Get Wireless – It is extremely difficult to get wireless in a lot of the buildings and housing around campus, even if you do have your own laptop. Computers are limited in libraries and in the Russel house, so if it is important to get a project done, do not wait until the last minute. Also, printing is a hassle, and expensive too.

SINCE I WILL BE TRANSFERRING THERE IN THE FALL OF 2011. I HADNT REALLY BEEN THERE LONG ENOUGH TO GIVE IT A GRADE BUT SO FAR WITH THE VISITS I HAVE GONE ON I THINK THAT ITS GOING TO BE A GREAT SCHOOL

Pretty sure USC 101 does not go here so take the F reviews with a grain of salt. They don't even know the difference between no and know. There are plenty of top programs here just do some research. Nursing, pharmacy, marine science, business, education all have great reputations. While international business is ranked number 1 it is one of many great degrees available here at USC.
Recent Alumnus 2011-04-14T05:00:06Z
Very Nice – The weather at USC is always warm but sometimes too humid.
Recent Alumnus 2011-04-14T04:58:34Z
There isn't much about USC that separates it from other schools. Besides, the International Business program which is great, everything else is pretty below average. The nightlife is fun but gets old really fast. The school is more concerned about taking your money with unnecessary drinking tickets and then making you go to alcohol programs. I don't know of any other programs that stick out.
Recent Alumnus 2011-04-14T04:53:16Z
Definitely Here – Zany(Xanax) bars are everywhere. You cant go anywhere without being offered one and you probably have one in your drink but just don't no it.
Recent Alumnus 2011-04-13T02:29:32Z
There is not much I can say about this.
The police does show up pretty much every weekend at the parties.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
