Wide Variety of Housing Options – There are many apartments that are rated at the same cost as living on campus and for the most part are even cheaper than living on campus. There are many options so you have to be willing to look at them.

Waiting on a bus for transportation can be very hectic. I have waited for well over 25 minutes before and at other times they are very convient and efficient. The transportation from off-campus housing is very convient and helpful as well. There needs to be however a late-night number to call for transportation.

I have applied to many schools, and this one gave me the best scholarships. If you want outside scholarships you have to do your own research, but if your grades are good, then there are sufficient opportunities.

I imagine it depends on what type of crowd you hang out with, but I have never come across drugs. Overall, the school has a healthy environment where people are into sports and going to bars. The presence of drugs is not a problem.

The Colloquim, located on the main campus, is excellent, and I go there frequently for coffee. They have sandwiches and salads that are a little expensive, but delicious. There is a coffee shop in the business school, yet the service is poor because the staff is not friendly nor helpful. There is an Einstein's Bagel, Taco Bell, and a few other places, so I am satisfied.

Little to No Help – I have had an extremely hard time getting financial aid for USC. Coming from Florida, I was the only one at my high school enrolling here, and therefore I had no help from my guidance counselor with scholarships. Now being a sophomore, I still really struggle with finding financial aid as most scholarships are for high school seniors. I have to do a lot of work with little rewards and it hurts my family's financial situation greatly.

Everything I Wanted and More – I could have never picked a greater school than USC. I have so much pride in my school and when my family comes to visit I always have something new to show or tell them about. There will always be downsides to college campuses, but I try to focus on the positive. The helpful professors outweigh the bad, and the friends I have made outweigh the bad experiences I have had with others. I feel so much at home at the University of South Carolina and I wouldn't trade my school for anything.

Parking on campus in horrible. We have so few spots with so many students it takes on average 15-20 minutes to find a spot. Sometimes, I think it might be better to walk a few miles to class, because if you don't have a parking permit for a garage (which costs around $300 a semester) than you will probably end up late to classes looking for a spot or being ticketed for parking illegaly to get to class on time.

Guys & Girls:
USC has a wide range of students from different culture backgrounds, and USC offers lots of student organizations that bring together students with similar interests to socialize and each to know one each other through parcipating in a variety of events on campus.

The school was built for a much smaller population. The library is nice but it gets crowded, the gym is beautiful and spacious, Russell House is too small.

Bring a Laptop! You need a laptop and an ethernet cord for your dorm. Dont try to rely on the wireless in your dorm, it will not always be working. During class and at the library it's fine, however.

Small City but Has Stuff to Do – Im from Boston and Columbia is tiny compared to it, but there are still plenty of places to go like Target and Walmart. There are some malls around too for shopping, and little boutiques downtown.

Various Different Ethnicities on Campus – Around campus at USC I see various different ethnicities and foreign students. They seem to really fit in and adapt well to the atmosphere of college in America. There are various facilities that they can use to feel more accepted and help them get involved. The acceptance of Diversity is very well.

There are tons of restaurants around the Columbia area that are fit for college students, one in particular being Moes. They are all well priced and very close to the college campus. One of my favorites for frozen desert being YogHut. There could be a few more sit down restaurants closer to campus that aren't so pricy, like the Blue Marlin, but the overall restaurants in the area are very good.

Health & Safety:
Overall Excellent Safety on Campus – The Safety on Campus at the University of South Carolina is very excellent. I always feel safe when I am walking around campus. There is constant patrolling of Campus Safety and City Police. If I ever felt unsafe there are plenty of call boxes with a button to press that tells your specific location. This is especially handy if you feel like you are being followed. Another incentive if you feel unsafe is that you can call Campus Safety or the Campus Police and they will pick you up from wherever you are located and take you home.

There are so many options for nightlife in Columbia. There are two main bar areas and one is five points which is focused on college students and the other is the vista which is more of the older crowd. There are tons of bars for students to go to that have an awesome night life. We are also getting more clubs, we have about three that are in the Vista. If you have a reasonable fake i.d then it is easy to get into bars. Transportation is also made easy by taxis and shuttles.

Guys & Girls:
Our university has 20,000 undergraduate students. We have people from 50 different states and over 100 countries. My school is one of the most diverse places that you can view. There is always preppy, emo, the jocks and of course the typical black vs. white. Everyone is so different here but everyone also fits in because we are all part of the Gamecock family.

Apartments Are Fun! There are so many options for great apartments. There are some close to the stadium and some that are closer to campus. They all relatively run around the same price per month which is about 500 because we are in the capital city. Its easy to sign up for an apartment and a lot of fun to look for the right one for you.

On weekends the city parking spots are free, which is perfect for friends visiting for football games. Parking is hard to find but $0.50 for an hour. No need to have a car if you are living on campus and tickets for parking usually range from $5-$15.

Health & Safety:
I have never felt unsafe on campus; however, you must be careful in Five Points late at night. The USC Campus police are very helpful and even offer a late night shuttle if you ever feel unsafe.

Come Prepared – I went to school without rainboots or a raincoat. BIG mistake because when it rains it pours. But not very often. I loved getting to lay by the Strom pool in the spring
