Most Popular Sports
Football is, by far, the most popular sport. Not necessarily because the team is incredibly great, but because USC has got some diehard football fans. Baseball and basketball also draw pretty big crowds, both with great facilities and good teams.
Most Overlooked Teams
The women's equestrian team has achieved national championship status in recent years, and the men's and women's track and field team consistently send team members to nationals.
School Spirit
Students at USC are teeming with school spirit, especially during football season. USC T-shirts, shorts, bumper stickers, and caps are seen all around the city of Columbia, as both students and alumni display their pride at being a member of the USC community. There are many reasons that students love USC, but sports are the main reason that they display such pride. You will never see students come together the way they do before a big football game here at USC.
Getting Tickets
USC has recently switched to a convenient online ticket return system. Students go online and register for a ticket and, numbers permitting, will be notified upon receiving one. They then can print their ticket directly offline and use it to enter the game. Of course, tickets for all sporting events are free for students.
Best Place to Take a Walk
Finlay Park, the Horseshoe
Did You Know?
  • Sir Big Spur, USC's first mascot and an actual live gamecock, attends every home football game.
  • There were 11 USC athletes in the 2008 Summer Olympics.
