Parking on campus at USC is absolutely atrocious. You can either get a garage space and pay over $300 for it, or you can get a $60 parking decal and fight to find a space. This is one of the disadvantages of having campus in the middle of the city. Not only are students looking for parking, but so are tons of other people going downtown for work. There are nine parking garages, which cost $260–$320 per semester, where students are guaranteed a spot. There are also parking lots located on the edges of campus where students with a decal can park. Considering the amount of students who have cars on campus, the amount of general student parking provided is not much at all.
Parking may be one of the most annoying things you will experience at USC, but the University seems to be trying to alleviate the headaches it causes. Because there has never been a great deal of parking for students, students are always lobbying for more options. Taking into account the number of commuters that bring their cars to campus, the major problems fall to those who live off campus. The fact that many off-campus communities provide shuttles to campus is a major step in coping with the lack of campus parking.
