Parking

I hate parking. Parking garages are so expensive! And you're lucky to get a parking space on the street. All of the big parking lots are too far away from the center of campus. Basically, it sucks.

Lack of Diversity

The most prominent social type here is the sorority girl/frat boy. It's difficult to find other sorts of people.

Downtown, Athletics, Etc.

The nightlife in Columbia, SC is very interesting. The college bar scene is very lively during Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights but is mostly limited to those that are 21 yoa or older. Aside from bars there are only apartment parties. The football games are a great time, but obviously are only in the fall. Other athletics do not play much of a role aside from baseball which is a sport that requires much more attention to stay involved in the game than football does. Shopping is mostly located in malls that are at least a 15 minute drive away. The students are basically secluded to the southern part of Columbia.
