Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Honestly, it is probably better than lunch at your local high school, but no one would attempt to put USD dining and Applebee’s in the same category. In fact, many students complain about the taste, variety, and price of campus food. Fountain beverages are overpriced compared to surrounding convenience stores, and most cafés have lower prices than USD’s Aramark Food Service. However, you can argue all you want—nothing will change.

Students living on campus need to watch their Flex Money, which is money used for food bought anywhere outside the Commons Dining Hall in the North Complex. If used too much, you will run out of Flex Money before the semester ends. In addition, unless you’re an athlete or big eater, you will probably want the most Flex Money possible compared to Commons meals on your food plan. Flex Money can be used anywhere in the CSC, for most pop machines on campus, and in the Speed Bump in the North Complex. Students living off campus can purchase Coyote Cash, turning their ID card into a pre-paid credit card. This comes in handy for anyone eating daily on campus or for students who can convince their parents to put money on their card. Coyote Cash can also be used at some businesses off campus, too, including a few gas stations, Pizza Hut, and Little Italy’s.

Satisfactory

Campus dining is satisfactory. There enough choices to have healthy options, a pretty good variety, but it's ridiculously expensive. If I was not REQUIRED to purchase a meal plan I WOULD NOT eat meals on campus.

Good but Not Stellar

The fact that freshman have to buy such a huge meal plan is ridiculous. It would be better if they could have more flex.

MUC Is Best!

The MUC is by far the best place to go grab a bite to eat. The Commons in North Complex is not all that bad, but it does get repetitive when you eat there every day. If you want variety, definitely head to the MUC where you can find yourself some great coffee and a great little complex of different areas to eat.
