Vermillion is home to a variety of restaurants, and new ones seem to open yearly. Several students boast Pro's hot wings and Mister Smith's deli located inside Jones Food Center. Prices, just like menus at the restaurants, vary greatly, and students will find places offering a cheap, light bite and others offering a gourmet, expensive dinner. Many students don’t realize the number of restaurants located on the side streets in downtown Vermillion, where you'll find more locals than college students, but really good food. Also, be sure to check out Chae’s Chinese, expensive but delicious, and Mexico Viejo, reasonably priced with excellent salsa and chips. Another student favorite is located just east of town in Burbank. Called Whimp's Place, it offers an all-you-can-eat spaghetti night on Thursdays, offering a chance to get out of town.

Several of the restaurants and almost all the pizza parlors offer discounts, or a special with student IDs, including the popular $5 pizza at Domino's. Vermillion high school athletes also sell discount cards, called Tanager cards, which offer further deals around town. Be sure to also look out for food coupons in the University paper, The Volante.
