Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Professors at USF are generally knowledgeable about subject matter, willing to work with students, and intent on helping students pass. However, there is always the chance that students will end up with a graduate student professor who can barely speak English, or an 80-year-old science professor that makes Ben Stein look like Robin Williams. While these kinds of classes can seem unbearable, students must sometimes force themselves to suffer through them because the class with the horrible professor just happens to be the only class that meets the credit requirement. On the other hand, during their time at USF, most students will be lucky enough to come into contact with at least a few professors that will have an incredible impact on their lives.

Because of recent budget cuts, classes are sometimes crowded, which can be intimidating. USF is aiming to expand the University so that it may get more funding and offer more classes, but the school still has a long way to go. Some departments are faring better than others, but some have been exhausted by an overabundance of students. Although USF offers a variety of majors, clubs, and resources for its students, the hectic environment can sometimes make classes more difficult and confusing than they normally would be.

A Challenge for All

I came to USF because of the well known engineering program and for ROTC. The teachers are enthusiastic about their jobs and they are very knowledgable in their subject. The ROTC program here at USF has to be one of the best in the state of Florida. It is hard to get one on one help from some teachers but there is always tutoring in the library to accommodate your needs. As for the work load, there are many hours needed to spend outside of class in order to succeed.

Business Department Can Be Difficult

The College of Business does not seek to make things easy for students and is difficult with work with. The advisers do not attempt to make a relationship with students and are often quite rude and hard to track down. Most appointment books are full months in advance and wait times can exceed 4 hours. Although the College of Business does better in scoring internships and job opportunities, it does not make up for their lack of attention to students needs in academics.

Communications Sciences and Disorders

So far so good. My classes for this past semester went really well, there was only one in which I had a lot of difficulty understanding and remembering the material. My adviser is okay, in some respects I can't complain. I stay out of her hair, she stays out of mind.
