College Prowler Take
When there’s a paper due and there is minimal time to complete it, the midday computer rush can cause problems for students who are working against the clock. The headache sometimes doesn’t seem to stop—computers in the lab often crash because of problems with the Blackboard system. Students who are unfamiliar with Macintosh computers will also find themselves in a rut if they are assigned to use a Mac computer when they check in at the computer service desk. Lab hours between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. are extremely busy, but most computer labs on campus are open until 11 p.m., allowing plenty of not-so-busy times for students to work. Waiting in line for printouts at Student Government Computer Services can become a chore as well, but most students say it is worth the wait because the lab offers 30 free prints per day.
The free workshops and programs provided are excellent benefits for USF students, but students rarely take advantage of all of the services offered. Personal computers are also excellent options for students who have access to them. All of the dorms are connected to a high-speed Ethernet connection, which can prove valuable for students who prefer to do most of their school work at home in their Garfield PJs.

The library's computer lab is almost always full, but it is never a long wait to get a seat. The wireless network is great, and it is accessible anywhere.

The computer labs are really...
The computer labs are really great, but like most other campuses, they are very crowded during the rush hours. Bringing your own computer would be a very good idea, but you would probably not need to have a printer, since this campus offers free prints in one of the computer labs. |

There are computer labs all around...
There are computer labs all around campus. The busiest lab is probably the Student Government Computer Lab, which allows students access to the Internet and many common program suites such as Microsoft Office. It’s always best to have your own computer, but those who can’t afford one can use the labs. |

Sometimes the computer labs are crowded, but they are not crowded at off-peak times. You don’t need to bring your own computer here. If you don’t have one, it’s okay. |

Computer labs are not always...
Computer labs are not always crowded. If you come to the computer lab and it is crowded at a certain time, just come back later. This way, you don’t have to wait in line. Sometimes computer lab workers are lazy and like to procrastinate, which is probably why there is some difficulty at the computer labs. |
