College Prowler Take
It’s not difficult to find attractive members of the opposite sex around campus. Girls can spot some incredible eye candy in the weight room as the football players pump iron. Guys can catch USF’s loveliest ladies basking in the summer sun in tank tops, shorts, and summer dresses. The more academically-minded students at USF are able to find at least a few hotties in their classes, and these sexy guys and girls might actually have more than half of a brain! Even the University’s pickiest students find someone to crush on by the end of the semester. Whether it is a serious relationship or a not-so-serious hookup that students are looking for, USF has something for both the guys and the girls. Parties are excellent ways to meet people, but students should be careful not to allow their homeboys and
homegirls to do things they’ll regret the next day. Just ask
any of the guys and girls who have woken up in some unnamed creature’s bed after a blackout episode, afraid to even look at the face of the person lying next to them. Bars are also great ways to meet other students, but girls and guys should know their limits when it comes to alcohol, and these limits shouldn’t be pushed unless people are willing to suffer the consequences. FactsBirth Control Available?
Yes - Female birth control is available in pill form ($14 per pack or $35 for three packs), patches ($20 for a one-month supply), or the shot ($60 for three months). Students who wish to get birth control on campus must have a recent exam with their home provider or with Student Health Services on record. Student Health Services also allows students five free condoms per day, five days per week.
Social Scene
With so many things going on at USF, students who seek the attention of the opposite sex should have no problem receiving plenty of it. Men have the advantage, because there are more women than men at USF. This is especially true on campus, where some of the dorms are designed specifically for women. People at USF interact all of the time, making it so that even the shyest students have the opportunity to meet new people.
Hookups or Relationships?
It depends on how much alcohol is involved when potential partners meet. Random hookups are common with those involved in fraternities or sororities and those who are constantly partying, but the tamer students at USF prefer long-term, serious relationships.
Best Places to Meet Guys/Girls
The best way to meet men and women at USF is for students to put themselves in a position where they are forced to interact with others. The most traditional way of meeting others is by joining a fraternity or sorority, an organization that practically requires that its members socialize with those of the opposite sex. With Greek life, the parties are endless, regardless of whether or not members are of the legal drinking age. Those who choose not to become involed with the name, letters, and responsibility that go along with Greek life can almost always find some desirable members of the opposite sex breaking a sweat in the gym, lounging under the sun in the sand courts, or cooling off in the swimming pool. Parties and bars are also great places to meet people, but friends should always watch out for each other and make sure that beer goggles don’t have too much of an influence on decision- making halfway through the night.
Dress Code
Visitors to USF will find most students wearing jeans, even on the hottest days of summer. Also take note: USF students are all about their acronyms.The screen printed USF logo is popular among athletes at USF, and the recognizable A&F of Abercrombie & Fitch is popular with those who like to show that they can afford it. Most students wear whatever they can find after rolling out of bed in the morning, but there are a few students who settle only for Burberry and DKNY. One thing is for sure at USF . . . an outfit from Diesel will draw more double takes than an outfit from Neiman Marcus.
