Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Students who aren't interested in an endless stream of on-campus activities have the choice to live off campus. The area surrounding USF is home to dozens of apartment complexes, and most of them are built especially for students. The apartments are reasonably priced, and many of the complexes near USF have amenities that are included in the initial costs. Others have similar services, but add charges onto the bill at the end of each month. Most complexes near campus have swimming pools, exercise facilities, high-speed Internet access, volleyball and tennis courts, barbeque grills, and movie theaters. The complexes that are closest to campus have shuttles for USF students, which definitely beats having to pay more than $100 for a parking permit.

The housing situation away from campus is very much a nice change of pace from that of campus. The pricing is very affordable compared to the rate the school charges students to stay on the grounds. If you live in apartments that are only for students, then be ready for the place to get a little wild on the weekends.

My Apartment Vs Others

The apartment i'm staying in is expensive because its new and close to campus. I've heard cons about safety about other apartments. Mine will be gated and have security gaurds.

Housing

We each have our own bedrooms which is a huge plus for those that study better alone. There are washing and drying machines available on each floor- though sometimes they are out of order they are fixed quickly. Staff is very friendly, there is always someone available around the clock for your safety. Campus police is very close, parking garage is close. Only con is the ridiculous amount of money it costs to live on campus. Since it is in downtown there are barely any apartments available at walking distance of the school, and it isn't a place you want to be driving with all the parking meters and one way streets. It is by the beach which is beautiful- but also any options available are expensive.
