Parking Permits
Almost all USF students can obtain a parking permit . . . the big question is whether or not students can find a place to park. While there are supposedly enough parking spaces for all USF students who commute, peak University hours will turn students into vultures on four wheels, following other students to their parking spaces and stopping the flow of traffic while waiting for a space.
College Prowler Take
Students agree that the parking situation at USF is terrible. The situation is so bad that it even made the front page of one of the local newspapers here in the Bay Area. While the administration is doing what they can to alleviate the problem, it still causes unnecessary stress in the lives of students who have to go to class more than 30 minutes early so they can ensure themselves a parking space. Sometimes, the only places USF students can find parking are clear across campus, but even the most remote parking lots are full during peak University hours.
USF administrators should have addressed the parking situation long ago. While most of the facilities on campus are constantly being expanded and renovated, the parking lots at USF cannot keep up. Even newly-constructed parking garages haven’t fully alleviated the parking problem. Students who have paid for a parking permit should not be forced to walk more than mile to their classes because there is no parking available to them. Residents have serious parking problems, as well. When the residential lots get full, students have no choice but to park illegally, resulting in a ticket. It is recommended that students contest their tickets because it is free to do so, and taking the time to fill out an appeal can save students $15 or more.

Parking is difficult if you get to campus between 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. I usually go early to get things done. Parking is no problem if you live on campus, though.

Too Many Cars Per Parking Spot
C
Depending on the time and day, parking can be absolutely horrible. It doesn't affect me as much because I live on campus, but if I want to drive closer to my class so I don't have to walk as far, it's nearly impossible to find a parking spot.

The administration has known for...
The administration has known for years of the upcoming parking problem, but they have been extremely slow to react. The parking situation on campus is atrocious, especially during the first three weeks of school. The Parking and Transportation Services overcharge for parking permits and are quick to write parking citations for the smallest of problems. |

Parking on campus sucks if you are a commuter. If you live on campus, you don’t really need a car. It’s better not to have a car for as long as you can. Parking is the worst. |
