College Prowler Take
Students at USF generally feel safe on campus. Most areas of the campus are lit up at night, so students need not fear that there is someone lurking in the shadows. However, for those who are afraid to walk alone late at night, the SAFE Team will transport students anywhere on campus. SAFE Team’s presence also deters criminals from committing crimes because of the elevated possibility that their acts will be observed. There are also several emergency call boxes that are conveniently located throughout campus. The University Police Department does an excellent job of making students feel safe during their time on campus.
The most commonly reported crime at USF is theft. Most of these thefts are incidents that could have been prevented if students had taken the time to lock their residence doors, their car doors, or their bicycles. Students should take advantage of the school’s crime prevention programs, which are offered at various times throughout the year and are free of charge. If students ever have any questions about their personal safety or security, they are encouraged to contact the University Police Department at any time.

A few years ago, you would always hear of car break-ins and stuff like that. I don’t live on campus now, so I don’t know what it’s like for residents. As the campus has been growing, they have been putting in more of the emergency call boxes, which are good for students. |

Just like any campus, USF is home to some idiots who don’t know how to act. However, I think that this campus is pretty safe. |

There are those beacon things that someone can push in case of an emergency scattered all around campus. There are always police lurking around, and now there is an officer riding around on a motorcycle. Theft is quite common in the dorms because students often leave their rooms open or unlocked. |
