The computer labs are very up to date with all of the software and technology available. The labs are always packed with students but it usually isn't hard to find a computer because even the classrooms in the computer lab are open. Salvatori Computer Science Center is open 24/7 which is very convenient for many students especially those in Engineering. Sometimes the WiFi goes out in the school during finals weeks but usually gets solved quickly and there are Ethernet ports in almost all of the dorms and apartments.

NCAA Sports is such a huge part of campus life! We attend so many sporting events! Football games are by far the best because of such a great team and school spirit! Its also cool to attend other sports because student admission is free and they are always handing out free food and gear to students!!!

There are so many parties available on greek row and off the row!!! Frats go over the edge with their parties with great themes and stages and DJs. Not to many bars except the 9-0 but if you can go downtown you will have a blast!!!

I am in USC's Viterbi School of Engineering and I love it! They have helped students set up their class schedules to insure that they graduate in four years which is not very common for engineering majors. I had always wanted to study abroad, but going into engineering I dropped that idea because the classes are so dependent on each other I never thought it would be possible, but it is. Viterbi has a summer abroad program which allows you to take classes with USC professors in different countries around the world. In addition, if you go in to your advisor early, I have known multiple people who were able to study abroad with an engineering major. I absolutely love my school and would choose it again in a heartbeat!

USC is very focused on the quality of students' lives. There are constant polls asking how they could make classrooms or gyms better. There is free wifi all over campus. The athletic center is free to use and holds multiple classes throughout the semester. Libraries are constantly in use and it is easy to reserve a group study room online which includes a computer white board and table for groups to spread out. All events that USC holds are set up and taken down in a timely manner so it never closes off parts of campus for more than 24hrs. There are fairs held at the beginning of school to promote clubs, jobs on campus, and all other information you could ever want.

USC transportation is pretty good and is all free. Campus Cruiser is a mini taxi service and will drop you off within two miles of the surrounding USC area. There is a bus which is on a strict schedule which will drive you across downtown LA to the other campus. In addition, there are multiple USC bus routes which drop students off in the surrounding USC area. Even with all this campus transportation, most students bike, long board, or walk to class.

Food can get expensive, but we are in downtown LA. Food options can be improved.

The financial aid process is pretty standard. The amount I receive is expected. Just call the financial aid office or set up an appointment with the financial aid officer if you have any question.

USC is surrounded by a bunch of museums, sports arenas, and student housing. Lots of bus stops and tram stops are available around campus. Although the area can be dangerous at night, the school dispatches campus polices to stand in nearly every street near campus. Travel in a large group and beware of your surroundings; you will be fine.

There are so many options on campus, so you don't have to worry about going off campus to eat. There are familiar fast food and coffee places on campus, as well as fine dining experiences on campus. Healthy options are available as well. As for meal plans, there are different options. You may even purchase a plan if you live off campus.

The pride and spirit at USC is like no other. While the surrounding area may seem off-putting, USC is still in the heart of Los Angeles. There are many things to do, both for your academics and for your enjoyment.

I don't know much about Greek life, but all my friends in a fraternity or sorority really make it a part of their college experience.

While there are many white people at USC, there are many other minorities as well. The Asian community is large, and there are many Hispanics, Blacks, and other minorities.

There multiple greek parties on the row (the center of all the greek houses). But to be honest I really don't know much about the greek scene.

The weather here is extremely pleasant. It is always sunny and warm for most of the year. It can get cold during the winter but it rarely gets below 55F.

I really enjoy doing computer science. It is a great way to express yourself through coding games. In my first year I already created my first game. It was a great experience. I was able to see all the work that goes into created a game. There is a lot of work in this major but in the end it is worth it.

There is a very diverse range of food offered off campus however prices are average. There are some student discounts but not many that will benefit students.
College Senior 2013-07-28T23:35:32Z
There is a good range of libraries for students to use on campus. However, each library is dedicated specially for a major or purpose so it can get confusing.
College Senior 2013-07-28T23:33:42Z
The registration process for our social work program is a little complex. There were little explanation regarding the process rather than an email and online document. However, they do provide a good range of courses however professors abilities and actually skills ranges.

USC is a high spirited campus with a diverse range of activities however lacks the some participation from graduate students.
College Senior 2013-07-28T23:30:33Z
I'm a social work major at USC, and the courses are unique and beneficial for students since it entails all aspects of policy, behavioral theories etc for students. USC also provides student an array of internships that are split into a 2 day a week program that reinforces the materials and teaching we received from our courses.

If you're in Greek life, it's probably the center of your world. I am greek, and I couldn't imagine life without it. It is great for networking- so many people i know have gotten jobs and internships out of connections they've made here! Along with that it is incredible for the friendships you make because it puts you in a smaller community within USC and the small family you have within your house. Not to mention, its greeks that run the party scene at SC. But in the same token, the people I know who aren't involved in it have had a great experience at SC too.
College Sophomore 2013-07-28T21:00:58Z
School spirit here is ridiculous. We are all about USC!!! we obviously have legendary football, but going to volleyball, baseball, basketball and waterpolo are some of students favorite things as well. The athletic facilities for athletes are out- of- this- world amazing, but you only get to see the if you're an athlete. The Lyon Center, which is the school's normal gym is very nice, but definitely disappointing when you know how good the athletes have got it. They're rebuilding the pool area at the Lyon Center this year too

Since USC is located in an urban neighborhood, often times there is a question about student safety in regards to how students can be safe when they are off campus. It is safe if students stay near campus and avoid walking with expensive electronics out in the open to avoid being robbed. Nearby campus are many local restaurants and the school tends to host many events, such as the "Festival of Books" annually. There is also the LA county fair, which is held right outside of the campus in the streets. Streets are closed off for large events like Billboard awards, and major events in downtown like the LA Lakers basketball game at the Staples Center as well as X-treme games, etc. Lots of activities and events in the greater Los Angeles areas as well as eateries and shopping. USC's football games are very popular and they are held at the Coliseum.

There are many students from diverse religious backgrounds and political beliefs. Some current challenges at the university is the great economic divide between students from a higher SES background versus students from low-income backgrounds due to the fact that this university is a private university and its tuition rates are double that of a state university or the universities of California. Farthermore, majors like Social Work do not receive as much alumni funding and support as majors such as Business/Economics, Film, and so on. It's difficult for students to find scholarship as well due to the lack of student life such as student run organizations other than sororities and fraternities on campus. The majority of students in this school are International Asian Pacific Islander and Caucasian with very few Mexican/Latino and Blacks.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
