Starting Social Work Internship – I am just beginning the process of a social work internship for my MSW.
It is scary to be entering it but at the same time, it is so very interesting

Good Student Support – I am in the VAC program at USC for my masters in social work. I feel that I can reach out to professors as well as student support if I have any questions.

A Lot of Hype – USC has one of the most diverse campuses on the books, they are in the top 5 for international students, and can claim to represent almost every category of diversity. That said, there are usually only a few students making up each diversity demographic. Most of the international students are from China or Korea, and we are mainly just a lot of rich white people.

Good Parties If You Can Find Them – Really hard to get into frats if you're not a girl, there are probably 5-10 large student parties around campus in the community though on any given Wed-Sat, you just need to find out when and where; usually $5 for all you can drink and entry. Not many bars unless you drive 20 minutes to Hollywood, in which case anything goes.

I parked a little off campus in one of the school's parking structures, and I was charged $12 for being there for an hour!!

The area outside USC can quickly become unsafe. However, Los Angeles itself has plenty of shopping, entertainment, and attractions. The LACMA museum is a must!
College Sophomore 2012-08-27T07:57:24Z
Not Much in the Immediate Area Off Campus but Lots to Do Elsewhere in the City – unless travelling to a different part of LA most students stick close to campus

Football Is Awesome – If you are a football lover this is definitely the school for you. The team is recognized as #1 within the conference and are favored to win a championship this year.

HOORAY FOR FOOD – There are so many options! Whether you're a health nut or you live off pizza and ramen, USC is the place for FOOOOOD. So many great and delicious options, and they only keep adding more! We also have a registered dietician who helps students with food allergies or preferences figure out where they can access the food they like. We have a vegan/gluten free dining hall that is just opening up as well as two other regular dining halls that also include waffle makers, mongolian barbecue, and panini grills. And that's just on campus. Off campus there are so many restaurants, including both chain restaurants and little places. All of them are so good. One of my favorite things to do during my free time is go out to eat and explore all of the options on and around campus.

Lots of Fun! If you know how to work public transportation and/or if you have a car or a friend with a car, the possibilities are limitless in LA. The immediate area around campus is mainly student housing, but there are also lots of restaurants to go out to if walking is your only option. Other than that, there are so many beaches, Disneyland, always a play to go to/museum to see, etc. There are always things going on!

I got a great apartment with my sister and we are really enjoying our time here. A lot of the apartment buildings around here don't have air conditioning units in them so you have to find your own creative ways to beat the heat. There are tons of restaurants and food joints around campus for whenever you want to go out. It's not the safest neighborhood as many know, but as long as you travel with a buddy or in a group, you're fine. Cost is a little much, but it's LA. Super cheap housing out here is nonexistent/probably not a place you want to be living anyway. TONS of student housing off campus. Miles of it. Easy to find living space. Our landlords are really great too. Overall, we've had a good experience.

very time consuming.
Tips: start ahead of time..

Excellant Program Overall! Dissapointed with one of the 3 teachers I had this semester.
While she know her subject matter.. she didn't really know how to teach.
I would stick to my career. Not concerned about finding a job in today's economy as an Occupational therapist.

So Many Cultures in 1 School! There are a lot of ethnic groups and cultures at USC from all over the world. Many are in fact international students. It's an amazing feeling walking around school and being exposed to so many cultures!

Health & Safety:
Eat friendly staff always willing to assist you. On campus superb but off campus it gets a little harde to constantly patrol so that is where some of the issues come in. However, they have increased security measures off and arou d campus too. Health wise don't use USC healthcare not because it isn't good but because I'm active duty military

Amazing School but Expensive – I haven't had any issues with USC it is an amazing university both for sports and education. The staff are friendly and helpful while taking good care of their students. The only negative thing I have to say about the school is the price. This was not a worry last year as the University gives out pretty hefty grants to assist you. However this year they cut the grant in half and I just hope it wasn't one of those real you in and hook you now it is hard to leave cause your established things. But honestly as much as I don't want to leave the school the price is too hefty and for a mother of two that college money I would rather use on my children then myself.

Public transportation is great at USC. First of all many students, staff, and faculty take the metrolink to USC everyday. The metrolink is a lot cheaper then driving every day plus you do not have to pay for a parking permit. Not only that but USC has their own shuttles that go to the train station and pick up the students, faculty, and staff every day without any charge. These shuttles run every day until 10pm taking people back and forth from the train station. There are also a lot of bus stop near the campus.

The University of Southern California has a campus life that I have never experienced. There are many different centers that are there to help all of the students whether it be academic issues or personal issues. The libraries are a great place to study with plenty of quiet rooms that are available to all students whether you want to study on your own or whether it is a study group. The first two weeks of school is when you learn all abouth the different clubs and organizations that are availabe and school spririt is shown year round not only by the students but by the faculty and staff as well. When you step foot on campus you have entered the trojan home.

The only thing I do not like is when it gets cold during the winter time. Otherwise, I love the weather in southern California.
College Sophomore 2012-08-17T23:36:59Z
Nice and Sunny – The weather is usually nice. It doesn't get too cold (never snows) or too hot (Like Vegas or Arizona). Its always nice and peachy
Recent Alumnus 2012-08-16T15:45:16Z
Usually Sunny – It's usually sunny in Southern California, so many students study outside. There's a quad where students frequently study while they tan during the warmer months. Most students live on/near campus so walking or biking to class are popular ways to get to classes.
College Junior 2012-08-16T06:05:08Z
70 degrees and sunny skies, it really doesn't get better than that.
College Junior 2012-08-16T06:02:47Z
you are in luck! On campus housing beats off campus housing. Plus you have everything within walking distance--the dining hall, the gym, all the libraries, and if you want you can wake up ten minutes before class. Throughout the week things are pretty busy on campus and you have no trouble finding something to do, however on the weekends things really quiet down on campus, unless you decide to head off campus to party.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
