There's lots to do around USC, like museums, clubs or food centers. Also, the Row is pretty close to campus. The surrounding area can be dangerous at night if you're not careful, but always walking with others or calling campus cruiser to drive you around makes up for it.

Health & Safety:
Safer Than Popular Belief – For starters USC's physical campus is amongst the safest in the nation. Every DPS officer is trained by LAPD and there are over 300 officers and multiple security measures like blue light emergency stands...but these are all just in case. I've never felt unsafe anywhere on campus and even if I did the blue light system is extensive and well-maintained. DPS has an average response time of less than a minute. Just don't be stupid, it's an urban environment and use your discretion.

USC, by far, has the best location for weather in the country. It's usually always sunny and warm. There is very few rain and even when it rains hard, it's not too bad. I usually find that it gets a bit chilly in the mornings, but the temperature gets better throughout the day.
During the summer, the weather is so hot and nice for going to the beach. I think the weather facilitates having a good experience at USC since it makes it more fun to go out on the weekends or on evening nights after finishing homework and attending meetings. Definitely a plus of living in SoCal!

MOST FUN IVE HAD IN MY LIFE – These past 4 years at USC, I have lived on campus. It has truly been the best 4 years of my life. The dorms aren't too bad - even the older buildings are okay. The social atmosphere makes up for any cockroaches or dorms without Air conditioning. The Residential advisors always make sure to plan fun and free events for the residents and are always available for guidance. The cost is decent...much better than outside housing. Safety has never been an issue since we have our own Department of Public Safety making rounds every day.

Very Challenging Academic Curriculum With Many Opportunities – The political science department at USC is one of the best departments on campus. I receive quick replies from my advisors. The political science professors are all well-known around the globe and many have legal backgrounds, which is great since most political science students at USC plan to go on to law school. Events such as discussion lunches and guest speakers are available for students every week. Overall, the political science department is great. Professors are the best and challenge students to do their best. I would give USC an A+!

Wide Range of Places – There are a lot of places to eat at around the school. Different resturants with different styles.

A Lot of Resources – There are plenty of computers to use, and they are good quality.

Guys & Girls:
Social Socal – The greek community here is not to be missed! It is very strong and vibrant, incredibly focused on volunteer and philanthropy while also throwing its share of great parties and awesome events! Outside of Greek Life, the school is still incredibly social. The multitude of clubs on campus means you are constantly meeting new people! Also, USC is NOT the University of Spoiled Kids - It is an incredibly diverse and cultured campus that totally defies this stereotype.

PPD Major – AMAZING major! Not a single class is more than about 25 people. Incredible faculty and wonderful career services. This major is absolutely incredible though often overlooked. However, I can not speak highly enough about how incredible it is. Workload is average to high, totally depends on the class. It is never busy work, only very significant, important and interesting work. They even just updated the degree, adding new classes and incredible opportunities! Seriously, this is the HIDDEN GEM DEGREE at USC! Check it out!

Awesome With a Few Slight Pitfalls – Yeah, USC is kind of a party school, but honest to god -- the academics are what keep me here. The majority of my professors have ranged from good to amazing. I've had a bad professor here and there, but none have been downright horrible, and none have been unfair. In terms of classes, I've never had a problem getting the ones I need (and I'm on an extremely tight schedule), and there is a huge variety of things to learn about. USC actually encourages you to go outside your chosen field and get into something random. From my experience, General Education classes are the most prone to being kind of bullshitty because neither the professors nor the students wanted to be there, but some of the best classes I've taken have been GEs, so I guess it's really luck of the draw. The international relations department is particularly fantastic, if perhaps not as varied as it could be.

It Is Great – I enjoy it here. I am glad that I chose this place. I have made many great friends and had unforgettable experiences. USC has opened the doors to many opportunities.

You Don't Have to Be Greek to Be Cool – I am non Greek and fully enjoy my decision not to be Greek. I find the guys to mostly be not worth hanging out with. I do have friends in the Greek system, so their are exceptions. Also, you can still have fun/party without being Greek. Plus I found that some girls don't like Greek guys.

Depends on the Classes and Professors – I have enjoy most of my classes at USC, although it really does depend on who teaches it. Some classes really will always be terrible classes, such as some general education classes. Others, can be made better or worse depending on whether or not your professor hates you.

It's LA – Being part of downtown LA, one cant exactly hope to find cheap accommodation. But there are not many apartments convinently located near the school, so you have to go a little further away then one would like

My major right now is biological sciences with an emphasis in premed and I have been very happy with my experiences. There are lots of counselors and advisers that have been helpful with choosing courses and setting you on the right track. Some of the professors are wonderful and it helps to get to know them.

School Opportunities – The academic programs are great. There are a lot of opportunities out there for those who seek it. But not everything is about what happens in the classroom. There are also a ton of ways for students to connect with other students socially and professionally.

Most of the dining options around school are fast food chains, but if you're willing to take the metro or drive a little farther, there are definitely a lot of really great restaurants.
College Senior 2011-06-25T15:08:28Z
The professors are great, and the program is good because it doesn't require students to attend the additional 2 years after their undergraduate. This 5 year program allows an alumni to become licensed after their undergraduate degree, although students are definitely still encouraged to attend graduate school.

From What I Know.. I'm not that into partying but the center of the party scene has to be Greek Row. USC is becoming a little more vigilant with how many parties there are now, especially during the first week of school when freshman girls can't seem to control themselves.

This Campus Is Beautiful – No joke. USC is an oasis in this community. The grass is always green, flowers always in bloom, and the grounds are spotless. There are several older buildings that make the campus distinct (Doheny Library as seen in The Graduate anyone?) but there are also many new facilities as well like the quite new film building and the brand new campus center.

Availability of Professors – So far, all of the professors I have come across have been wonderful at being available to their students. Sometimes, certain classes seem extra difficult because either the material is dry or the way the professor lectures isn't the greatest. However, all of my professors make it a point to ALWAYS encourage students to come during office hours for any questions or extra help. Some of my professors were even willing to stay longer or meet with me outside of the office if I asked them to.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
