College Prowler Take
USC is a lenient campus, but plagiarism, acts of hate, theft, violence, and reckless drug and alcohol abuse are not tolerated when displayed publicly. These offenses can result in failing classes, losing housing privileges, and expulsion if the offense is severe enough. RAs have a reputation for lenience in freshman housing, but students on bad terms with RAs tend to get in trouble for partying more than other people do. Remember, when it all comes down to it, RAs are students just like you, so treat them like you would anyone else, with respect and courtesy, yet understand that they have a job to do, and they’re only there to help. The University is not out to catch USC students for getting wild from time to time. While the school seems lax about rule bending, it is more that students are not out to get wild. Once President Sample began cracking down on the reckless behavior of fraternities, parties became more mellow and now have little effect on the academic ideals of the University. As long as students seem to be acting safely and with respect for the community, no one is bothered.

Drugs are a no-go, alcohol is possible if you’re discrete and have a cool RA. DPS is always looking for something to do, so if you’re being public about what you’re doing, there will be paperwork. Off campus, though, LAPD has bigger things to worry about than college kids having a good time. |

Not Strict
A-
USC's rule about drinking/drug use seems to be this: do as you please, just don't let us catch you.
Drinking is technically not allowed in the dorms, but the RA's don't check and are usually cool enough not to write you up. Many RA's simply laugh at their drunk residents and tease them about it in the morning. At frat parties, where almost everyone is wasted, campus police do not interfere unless things look like they could get ugly, which is rare.
The school is stricter about drug use though. RA's will write you up if they smell weed coming from your floor or room.

They are strict outside the home. However, if you are in your dorm or apartment, they could care less. They let you have privacy, I guess. |

DPS is really strict about catching people with drugs or alcohol, but what they don’t know about, they can’t crack down on. Also, the Greek scene gets away with a lot on the drinking front. |

In dorms, they’re strict . . . but it depends on your resident advisor. |
