Not too overwhelming. Very committed professors who make learning a positive experience.

It is a very diverse population for age. It is a city school, you create your own social network. Academically, you are treated like an adult therefor your experience is directly related to what you put into it.

Portland, Maine, is one of the little known best foodie towns in America. Off-campus dining is superb.

If you love the snow, it's great! If not, as expected (it is Maine) it snows a lot in the winter. That being said, the summers are beautiful.

Portland is a great city with a thriving foodie community and real character. The city is seriously a huge perk and a great place to live!

The food is quality, but the selection is sometimes light. Other options are available within walking distance.

Campus Dining is good, it just gets boring after a while and you start craving something else. But other than that its good quality. Good variety.

USM has a split campus, which is very nice. One part is located in Gorham, a small town with a couple cute local shops and restaurants. It's peaceful and quaint. The other half of the campus is located in Portland, which is considerably larger and near shopping, restaurants, and the Old Port, which is a popular place to go clubbing. All in all, it has the best of both worlds.

Guys & Girls:
There is quite a variety of guys and girls at USM. There's some on campus, mostly off campus, and a lot of non-traditional students. I have seen great variety in the students from those who are preppy and athletic, the fraternities whose members and friends do a lot of partying, and some very artistic. I'd say there's no way to judge all the students with one description, except for the majority are very friendly. The on campus community is definitely home-y and close.

The computer labs are not typically crowded, but they are limited. So I usually find myself able to get to a computer right away, but during a busy time there can be a wait time. Though they have wifi available practically everywhere and you can print from your own laptop.

I am an on-campus student and have no experience with off-campus housing, so I cannot give a review on it.

The academics show the students that whatever field they study, they can feel that what they are learning can apply to the future experiences they will accumulate.
