The school is very strict with some things. They do not allow underage drinking or drugs of any kind. This is a Catholic institution, so they do promote values and do not tolerate anything that does not uphold those values.

It's a Catholic University. They expect students to comply by the laws as well as the standards of behavior set forth by the church. When you attend, you expect a certain level of strictness and it should not come as a surprise.

The policies at my school for drinking in the dorms is serious but not to the extreme. If you get caught, you will get fined and you have to speak to the head of residences life. However, everything is completely handled through you and they do not take matters to your parents, which is good to me because you are an adult and must face the consequences on your own.

In my experience campus security is there primarily as a means of assistance for students. If there is an event or incident in which security needs to intervene they will, otherwise they are there just to make you feel safe and orderly.

The rules of a dry dorm in Marian Hall is very reasonable, solely because it is mostly made out of freshmans and sophomores. We are not of age to drink anyways. The no smoking rule in dorms makes sense, because it is a fire hazard. If you get in trouble you would have to talk to the resident assistant or the the dean, but they do give you chances. They also send letters home depending what rule was broken.
