Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Tampa is a great place to come for academics and fun. Theme parks, roller coasters, beaches, water sports, football, baseball, hockey, shopping, restaurants, art, theatre, museums, culture—it's all here.

More than 3.3 million people call the Tampa Bay area home. Latin American, African, Asian, Caribbean, and European influences all add spice to this historic cultural crossroads, and to have the opportunity to attend UT and experience this entire mix of cultures is something that you must not pass up. The University of Tampa offers a great variety of things, but one of its best assets is the atmosphere.

Not a Whole Lot

Even though Tampa is a city I feel like I never have anything to do! I generally hang out on campus but Bayshore is a great bike or run. Also Channelside and Ybor have some good restaurants and clubs.

Not Bad

The local atmosphere isn't bad. It has a decent amount of shopping, very good restaurants and some clubs. Avoid Ybor. Down Howard street is really nice.

Much to Do

Ybor City, Channelside, and Soho are the club areas in tampa, and it is only a 5 minute cab ride from campus, and it only cost 3 dollars each way. Some clubs and bars are within walking distance and are not only open on weekends. Clearwater and St. Petersberg are about 30 minutes away and there is a bus that will take you. The beaches there are nice. There are great aquariums and the campus is full of tropical plants, and across the bridge is Downtown Tampa's Business area where there are many bulings and places to eat and hang. Exploring is fun and free :)
