College Prowler Take
Most students agree that there is not a lot of pressure to do drugs at UT. For someone who wants drugs, however, they are not impossible to find. You will probably know people that do it, but they probably will never pressure you to do it. Most students agree that the people who choose to do drugs keep it to themselves and their close friends. Marijuana is the number one cash crop in the state of Tennessee and is easily the cheapest and most readily available drug. A lot of drug users limit their use to marijuana alone and do not use any harder drugs. The harder drugs can be found throughout Knoxville, but are well hidden. You will probably not have many encounters with drugs other than marijuana. With drugs in general, it is easy to maintain your stance once it is made, and people will handle your decisions as an adult the majority of the time.

When I came to UT, I was näive about drugs and drug use. Now that I have been here several years, I have learned more about it and seen how the whole drug culture operates. There will be a noticeable difference in those who start using drugs in college and an academic downturn is just one of many changes. |

If you want them, you do not have to search a whole lot to find them if you know a lot of people. Marijuana is by far the most prominent drug, but for many, it is just a stepping stone to harder drugs. |

Those who do drugs usually keep it under wraps. They usually only talk about it to their friends who also do drugs. It isn’t extremely visible, but at some point you may smell marijuana at a party and spot people who have been smoking it. |

I have been able to avoid drugs, and it’s not hard to at all, though you will know someone who does them. |

You can get whatever you want if you know the right people. A guy that lived down the hall from me last year had stashes of everything you could imagine. As long as you know someone, you can get anything. |
