A walk around campus on a warm September afternoon says it all. Unless you remain confined within dorm walls, you will meet more members of the opposite sex than you could ever hope to remember. Don’t worry, though, you’ll remember the important ones! Your selection is extremely wide. If a particular guy or girl makes you yawn—next! Great looks, a fancy car, and impeccable clothing do not always guarantee success with the opposite sex at UT. The common denominator among those truly successful with the opposite sex is a positive attitude and confidence. The outside appearance will only get you so far, especially if you are in it for more than mere casual encounters. In conclusion, there is a huge amount of different types of guys and girls to choose from. Whether you seek a friend, a date, a hookup, or a relationship, there are unlimited choices. Many girls at UT take great pride and spend endless dollars to develop their looks. If you are a guy and do not take care of yourself, and show only a moderate fashion sense, you will probably be ignored. The way that you dress and carry yourself has great importance. Confidence matters a lot. |

Since UT has so many things that guys love, such as sports and nature, the selection of guys with many interests is very wide. Most guys here are very laid-back and friendly. The ones who are jerks and snobs are pretty obvious, and easily avoidable. |
FactsBirth Control Available?
Yes - The Knox County Health Department offers birth control to students in the form of condoms, birth-control pills, and Depo-Provera shots. For female students who would like pills or the Depo-Provera shot, an appointment and initial exam is required. The initial exam is $137, but is on a sliding scale according to income. Refills are also offered. The Family Planning Clinic is located in the basement of the UT Student Health Services Building. For more information, call (865) 215-5320.
Social Scene
Social interaction is somewhat dependent on football season, but it's very active throughout the year.
Hookups or Relationships?
Hookups are slightly more prominent, but if you're looking for a relationship, you can find others that are like-minded, at least in the realm of upperclassmen.
