College Prowler Take

Knoxville truly serves as a happy medium between a large city and a small town. It is an easy transition for students coming from either extreme. In a way, Knoxville can be as large as you want it to be, depending on how willing you are to travel and explore.

The people of Knoxville are rather relaxed (except on game day), and there are plenty of places to go to enjoy leisurely activities. You will not feel trapped in Knoxville. Atlanta and Nashville are not too far away, and you can be in the mountains in even less time. While many consider Knoxville a “college town,” not all of the exciting activities take place on campus. You may find that Knoxville is the ideal size for a college student.

Knoxville may seem like a big town trapped in a small-town mentality. The people here cling to small-town values and traditions.

I highly recommend UT. Knoxville is a medium-sized town, and despite what some may say, there’s plenty to do. We have more restaurants per capita than any other city, and the nightlife is very diverse. You couldn’t pick a school with more spirit than UT.

Knoxville is a nice little city. My hometown has more people than Knoxville, and I think more people live on Long Island than the entire state of Tennessee, so most things are quite different for me here. I like the change, though. It’s more relaxed, and there isn’t much pressure. The school isn’t that expensive, either.

The atmosphere of the town is a case of two extremes. When things are going on, this town is so exciting. When things are not going on, this place is like the weather—dull and gray. They are no other universities in the same town. You should visit events that go on in the downtown area, but other than that, you are visiting each other in the dorms or apartments.

I love the atmosphere at UT. The people there are so cool, especially around football season. There are other colleges in Knoxville, but they aren’t big at all, and a lot of the people that go there are people that failed out of UT. There are places to visit around Knoxville, so when you want to get away, you can.
