College Prowler Take
Most students choose to move off campus after one year of living in the dorms. Luckily, Knoxville provides many different options in terms of price, location, and comfort. In general, it is best to start searching as early as you can. Many of the more popular apartments actually have waiting lists and are difficult for the unprepared to rent from, so be sure to pick up free brochures and apartment guides so you will know the details. The rules for freshman living arrangements are rather elaborate. Unless you are commuting from a dwelling with a relative, you are required to live in the dorms. Make the best of this by meeting as many people as possible and enjoying your first year. Living in an apartment comes with many responsibilities and expenses, but can be much more enjoyable in later college years.

I live off campus and love it. There are buses that can pick you up and take you to class. Prices are pretty good, and most off-campus living is right across the street from campus in Fort Sanders.

It really depends on where you look and when. When it comes to finding housing, the earlier the better. Living off campus does provide an increased sense of freedom, but it can also come at a price, especially with the newer complexes and the ones closer to campus.

There is plenty of housing, and it is reasonably priced. It is better if you value privacy. Make sure it is close to campus to avoid long commutes. In my opinion, living on campus is still a better choice for price and convenience.

It is very convenient, but one of the only down falls is that the off-campus housing is usually a 12-month lease. If you are planning to go home for the summer or just not stay in Knoxville, it is hard to find someone to sublease. Since parking is nearly impossible, it is much better to live in the Fort area instead of living where you have to drive to campus.

It’s a college campus, there are plenty of apartments, town houses, and rental houses everywhere! Most have very good rates, too, and are no more than five minutes from campus. A trolley runs to and from campus all day at 15-minute intervals from most apartments. It saves you a bundle on gas if you have a car, and you won’t have to worry about parking.’ |
