Austin is one of the most amazing cities I've ever been to. From the accepting atmosphere, the crazy and eclectic people, the funky shops, plethora of amazing food, and an amazing University to tie it all together, you really can't do better for a fantastic college city.

Nightlife at UT is alive and well. From frat parties to house parties, downtown for 21+, there's always something going on. Music venues are a plenty and there's almost always some kind of late night happenings on campus.

Texas is HOT HOT HOT. Which means walking on the 50 acres can be quite a challenge during the early fall months. Staying hydrated is key to being successful because it's really easy to wear yourself out.

I'm in the Liberal Arts college as a Economics major and I'm enjoying it so far. The professors I've had up to this point has been amazing and super helpful and very good educators. The workload hasn't been too bad, but I heard it gets harder so we'll see. As for job opportunities, there has been workshops and stuff to help you out, but most of it is going to have to come out of your own effort and through networking.

It is very challenging with a heavy workload but at least you never get bored and always have something to do.

Everyone is so friendly and there is such a diversity in religion, culture, and ethnicity.

There are so many classes to choose from it almost makes you dizzy.

Student life is eventful. If you live in a dorm then there is always people near. Study tables are a great place to meet people and designated study tables are a great way to finish homework and form study groups. Every building on campus has rooms for studying. Athletic centers have been newly renovated and are always busy with active students. Libraries have coffee shops in them along with quiet floors or group study floors. There is green spaces all over campus and you will always see students playing frisbee, studying, or activities such as the harlem shake on them.

Students come from all over the world to attend UT. Alumni love to come back to the school and give back and meet current students. You do have to be involved in clubs or associations to get these kinds of opportunities, but it's really not hard. There are clubs for anything you can think of and most students like to get involved. On campus expect to walk, ride your bike, or the bus. There is never parking, and if you find it then consider yourself lucky. Parking can also be very pricey. There are academic programs for every school it just depends which major you choose.

The food is really good on campus when you go once or twice a week. Everyday the food seems old and unappetizing. There are vegan and gluten free options, as well as a bbq, grill, asian, mexican, and salad bar options. The meal deals are a reasonable price, but if you want to grab a drink or a quick snack then it could be a little pricey for something small. Campus also has tons of cart options all over the place. Along with starbucks shops, and other fast food restaurants in the student centers. The Drag, west of campus and not a far walk, has tons of fast food places and sit-down restaurants where I find myself most of the time of breaks. This is because austin has your familiar restaurants along with restaurants you've never seen that are so good, the drag can be cheap or pricey depending on the restaurant you choose.

UT is known as a party school in some magazines, but really it's a interactive school. There are 100's of clubs and activities to do around campus. Austin TX is known for 6th street and many people do drink. I have only seen drugs a few times and all times were not at school. It depends on who you catch yourself hanging out with.

Austin is an amazing city and the atmosphere is very relaxed. There is always somewhere to be, something going on, or something fun to do. There are many large cities nearby that you can drive to as well, though I don't see anyone so anxious to leave this amazing city.

There are many races and religions at the school, but the majority is upper class Caucasion students. There are many groups for minority students to connect, however there are still race issues and it can feel uncomfortable not being around more of your own race.

Austin is the best city for great food and live music.

There are TONS of options for off campus housing as the school does not have enough housing space for all the undergrads they encourage off campus housing. It gets very pricy closer to campus (west campus area) but there are shuttles that are provided through the school that allow you to commute.

Coming from Chicago, the weather in Austin is ideal year around. Boiling summers would keep the grade from being an A+
College Sophomore 2013-08-12T22:44:44Z
Parking is expensive. A parking pass for a whole year is about $300? Somewhere around there...but the point is that it is expensive and you only have access to level 4 and above.
College Sophomore 2013-08-12T22:43:06Z
A plate is average $6 and they usually serve the same thing everyday.
College Sophomore 2013-08-12T22:38:56Z
Amazing. It is usually sunny and hot, but then there are cold days in the winter and rainy days in spring.
College Sophomore 2013-08-12T22:36:17Z
There's always a party going on on the weekends. To be honest, 6th street is fun, and it's easy to go into a 21 and over club.

I personally don't think there isn't much of diversity. I know barely any international students at school, and majority of my friends have similar political views
Recent Alumnus 2013-08-12T18:09:25Z
I don't know too much about Greek life at the school because I'm not involved but I hear that it is a lot of fun, a good place to make connections for the future, and an opportunity to enjoy college life.
College Junior 2013-08-09T16:24:14Z
Dorm life is dorm life, and there's no getting around that. Most students spend only a year, or max 2 years in the dorms before moving into off-campus apartments. It is what you make of it. Dorms are expensive, but it's a necessity for incoming freshmen. I recommend a 1 year sentence in the dorms, and then get out of there, but don't skip out on the experience.

The rent-a-laptop program was just ended, and that really stinks. You pretty much need a laptop. There are labs in different places, but it's difficult to get a spot. Buy a laptop or suffer.

Tons of beautiful people go to UT Austin, and the diversity is unparalleled. You can find people who speak Urdu and like electronic music and people who like eating ice cream while skateboarding. The Austin community is fantastic. You'll find whatever you're looking for here.
