Health & Safety:
I am a Freshman and new to campus, but I don't feel unsafe. I take the necessary precautions that I would take at any campus. I keep personal valuable items out of site or locked up and I prefer to walk with a friend when not on campus. I do not feel afraid to walk to my classes by myself, however, my classes are all during the day.

There are many restaurants within walking distance that provide a variety of food. Of course there are fast food chains, but there are many healthy options and "local" eateries. One of my favorite places is "http://www.kerbeylanecafe.com" - it's open all night and the prices are reasonable. If you run out of restaurants in walking distance - which might take a while - as a student you can take the public bus for free and start visiting other local places with just about any type of food you are craving.

It's Texas! It's hot 3-4 months of the year - ok very hot on many days! However, the remaining 8-9 months of the year are mostly wonderful. The campus is beautiful and its nice to get outside and walk.

As a business major, I plan to look for an internship. After just hearing that I was accepted into the McCombs School of Business, I had two different professionals offer me their business card and asked me to contact them in the spring for a possible summer internship. I think think this speaks very loudly for the strict criteria used just to gain admittance into the UT Austin business school and based on this, I am very hopeful to finding an internship.

I don't have a car and have been able to get around just fine. Everyone walks in Austin.

Austin is one of my favorite cities in the country. Not only does it have the University of Texas, but it also has so much more to offer. The natural beauty of Austin's rolling hills and lakes make it extremely unique, and Austinites are proud of it! The food is to die for, whether it's Salt Lick barbecue or from a trendy food truck. Austin is also the live music capital of the world, bringing in a plethora of different artists for events like Austin City Limits and South by Southwest.

It's just about impossible to run out of things to do in Austin, with all of its live music performances, organizations, and parties. There's a place for everyone here, and people are kind enough to hold the door open for you here. There are numerous restaurants and food chains, as well as intramural sports teams you can join.

The place to eat are very easy to find. There are a lot of option to choose from and most of the places are fairly affordable.

the process of getting into the theater and dance major was fairly easy. I didn't have to do a special application process when applying for the school.

I received a decent amount of financial aid, but it has been a trial. My financial was messed up because of the mistakes that occurred. i would recommend that you continue to call and check on your financial aid status especially during the summer.

I'm pretty happy with my program and wouldn't change a thing.

The University does a good job at advocating the abstinence of drug use.

University housing was one of my better experiences. The atmosphere was always hospitable and friendly. Additionally, the facilities are always top of the line.

UT does not tolerate any nonsense. This is not necessarily a bad thing though, because it exhibits the character of the students they want to educate.

Greek Life at UT is a great place to branch out and have a good time while developing life-long friendships.

Campus food is usually pretty great. They always have multiple options for vegetarians and a variety of different types of cultural options. It runs a little expensive though, and students who live off campus aren't eligible for meal plans.

Austin is one of the most amazing cities I've ever been to. From the accepting atmosphere, the crazy and eclectic people, the funky shops, plethora of amazing food, and an amazing University to tie it all together, you really can't do better for a fantastic college city.

Nightlife at UT is alive and well. From frat parties to house parties, downtown for 21+, there's always something going on. Music venues are a plenty and there's almost always some kind of late night happenings on campus.

Texas is HOT HOT HOT. Which means walking on the 50 acres can be quite a challenge during the early fall months. Staying hydrated is key to being successful because it's really easy to wear yourself out.

I'm in the Liberal Arts college as a Economics major and I'm enjoying it so far. The professors I've had up to this point has been amazing and super helpful and very good educators. The workload hasn't been too bad, but I heard it gets harder so we'll see. As for job opportunities, there has been workshops and stuff to help you out, but most of it is going to have to come out of your own effort and through networking.
College Sophomore 2013-08-19T18:47:28Z
It is very challenging with a heavy workload but at least you never get bored and always have something to do.

Guys & Girls:
Everyone is so friendly and there is such a diversity in religion, culture, and ethnicity.

There are so many classes to choose from it almost makes you dizzy.

Student life is eventful. If you live in a dorm then there is always people near. Study tables are a great place to meet people and designated study tables are a great way to finish homework and form study groups. Every building on campus has rooms for studying. Athletic centers have been newly renovated and are always busy with active students. Libraries have coffee shops in them along with quiet floors or group study floors. There is green spaces all over campus and you will always see students playing frisbee, studying, or activities such as the harlem shake on them.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
