Downtown Austin offers tons of entertainment from being the "Music Capital of the World" to the festivals that bring in thousands of people every year.

I've never had an issue with the campus police, but the dorm drills are ridiculous. Every semester we evacuated the building at least 4 times at the most inconvenient times.

The dining hall JCL in Jester West is pretty great, but the food at J2 sucks pretty badly. The coffee place at San Jacinto is good and has nice seating, but the best and quietest place is the Littlefield Patio Cafe.

There are many scholarships offered within the University, not as much as I would like but still a good amount. I am cut off from some of the based on their prerequisites but I search around in other places to make up for that.

Parking isn't necessarily a problem. It is a little on the expensive side but it is manageable.

You see drugs and alcohol around the school here and there. The policies are pretty strict, and those who are caught are dealt with in the proper manner. Most people just tend to do it outside of campus or in discreet locations where no one will see them unless you are searching for them.

Amazing. Lots of choices to choose from although some are a little far from campus.
College Sophomore 2013-06-26T17:04:57Z
To me, it was very diverse. Lots of different people.

They're crowed at times, but accessible at others.

Austin is a pretty liberal city and since it is pretty big there is always something to do.
College Sophomore 2013-06-25T20:23:26Z
The financial aid process is relatively easy. I got offered scholarships I didn't even know about by simply applying to the school.

UT is a beautiful school, it has many historic buildings as well as newer, modern facilities. It houses one of the largest libraries and despite its size there is always someone to help. The green spaces are nothing less than well kept and always offer a nice place to study, host events, or just hang out. There are always events taking place at the school and even if you don't have much cash there is always something to do.

My school is very diverse in many ways. First of all, the student body is diverse, also, the professors are diverse coming from different backgrounds. Overall, UT is a great university due to its highly awarded programs and friendly atmosphere. I really feel at home at this university and feel it will help me to reach my goals.

There is no shortage of cuisine varieties in Austin. You can find restaurants all around town in droves, not to mention the much loved food cart. Even the pickiest of eaters or strictest dieters can find food relatively easily, and within a price range that won't break the bank.

Public transportation in Austin is generally lacking. The bus system is minimal and is only well covered close to campus. As a students, however, you do get to use the buses for free, so I suppose that is one perk. On the whole, however, I wouldn't rely on public transportation alone. Many people use bikes to commute and get around in addition to the buses.

There are plenty of apartments to be found, not to mention houses (which is more ideal in my opinion). However, prices close to campus are far from reasonable and one has to venture a few miles away from the school area to find affordable housing. One huge plus is that there are always an abundance of students looking for roommates, so if you don't mind sharing a living space, there are ways to make your living situation cheaper.

Football seems to be THE sport here at UT. Thousands attend the football games and tailgating parties. I personally do not go to football games but I make great use of the gyms available. They are impressive and freeeeee.

The financial Aid here is GREATTTT. Like many others, I find it hard to pay for life in general at the moment, but UT financial office literally helped me with $16,000 my first year.

You find that adderal and marijuana are the main two drugs used by people. People here seem to be either really into going hard at life and use uppers OR chill and be very mellow while smoking weed. Everyone drinks, but not in a bad way. Except for west campus, that place is hell for most people who live there and actually want something out of school.

Communications is really nice because it's "easy," but it's still challenging at the same time. Overall, UT is a great school and it's reflected by being the 26th best University...globally.
College Sophomore 2013-06-21T04:43:05Z
The wifi speed is amazingly fast. UT is really updated, so they have Mac desktops...but they still have PCs around.

Guys & Girls:
everyone is really different and unique. UT is a city itself...within a city (ATX). it's really awesome..but you're never really alone/have no friends...there will always be a friendly face.
College Junior 2013-06-15T21:23:53Z
UT is pretty huge but luckily they have a bus system that goes all around campus and best of all it's free. The buses come every 10 to 15 minutes and the only problem I could see someone having is that it gets crowded. UT students also can ride the city buses free with their ID and that is pretty useful when you want to go downtown and don't have a car.

Health & Safety:
I feel UT is very safe. I have left the PCL at various times at night when finals come around ranging from 11 PM to 4AM and the only thing you will see that might be a danger would probably be a raccoon. And those guys will just leave you alone if you don't mess with them. There are also the emergency call boxes that are around so if anything happens those are there. Overall I feel pretty secure at UT.

Guys & Girls:
People at UT are very good looking! The guys especially. You can find a range of people so don't let the idea that you will only find the typical frat/sorority person around scare you off. Everyone is pretty nice too and there are plenty of events going on campus where you can meet new people.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
