The UT campus is outstanding. The proximity to almost any nearby apt. or dorm is ideal, the buildings themselves are beautiful to look at and downtown Austin is just a few blocks and a walk away.

Forget driving, get a bike and use your bus pass. it's much more enjoyable than trying to fight campus traffic or deal with parking.

while Utexas offers many on-campus dining locations, on site fast food usually beats them in price. from what I've seen it isn't feasible to eat in the dining halls without dine in dollars. in addition there are few places on campus that offer snacks in between classes at a reasonable price. often the drag has better value than anything else.
College Junior 2013-02-25T02:49:25Z
Quite a few options on the Drag, and varied hours help students have options. Pricing is pretty decent, $6-8 can get you a decent meal. Options ranges from Asian to sandwiches to Greek food.

Almost all the buildings where activities, events, and some classless are held are nice and new and clean! With very advanced technology and of course MAC computers. Even iPads are used in classes. White boards only chalk boards in the older classrooms which definitely suck!

The police are usually pretty cool, even at parties. Now the dorms have a lot of rules especially the all girl one, those are the worse. And the amount of noise in dorms, they try to keep that on a minimal. I recommend co-ed dorms if you don't care for rules.

Guys & Girls:
This is a HUGE school. There are so many different type of girls and boys. There are a lot of feminine guys here, many who seem like they for the other team, but never really say so. Honestly most of the dudes are either lame, weird, average, but a lot of them are nice and gentlemen like which is always pleasant. The girls are nice for the most part, many of the sorority girls wear faded tees and shorts...I don't know what that's about. But there are also girls who dress really nice like there going out, makeup, hair, everything on POINT!

Off campus housing is expensive around Austin if you don't know start looking for apartments early. There are many apartments but the price might be a problem. There is transportation provided by the school through their bus system even though many of the apartments are not far away. I lived in campus my freshman year and loved it but finding an apartment in West Campus has introduced me to so much more freedom and there are always parties in west campus during the weekend. I love living in Austin in my own apartment. I think the price is definitely worth the freedom and the social life.

Transportation is awesome at UT. There is a bus system established by UT that is one of the largest university bus systems in the United States. Also, the public transportation system in the city of Austin is great since it is free for UT students. Bike routes are established throughout the city and UT is in the heart of Downtown Austin so walking is never a bad option. I love the accessibility of everything in Austin.

There is always something going on in Austin. Live music, concerts, parties, things to do during the day where you meet cool people and an amazing club scene. There are events everyday with games and music and many of them offer free food. Also, there is nothing better than going down to 6th street with your friends, especially when there is a bus that stops at school that takes you downtown and back to the dorms. There are many concert venues to hear your favorite band or you can go clubbing in the many clubs located in downtown Austin. You can never get bored as long as you are in Austin.

There is an incredible amount of variety of dining options around UT Austin. From Asian food to Mexican food and everything in between. The drag (Guadalupe Street) has so many options to choose from and a quick ride on the Forty Acre's bus drops you right in front of restaurants like Taco Bell, Chick-fil-a, Chipotle, Austin's Pizza right next to it, Noodle's and Company, or a sandwich at Which Wich, and many more that are just a simple walk from the dorms or a really quick bus ride. There is so much to choose from and the price of food is so cheap and a conveniently located.
College Sophomore 2013-02-23T05:37:35Z
There are some very good and some average options available. The cost is pretty cheap but some places tend to be more expensive than the others. As far as I know, none of the dining places provide any student discounts. Some good places to check out are Trudy's, Kismet Cafe, Kerby Lane, etc.

On campus, it is hardly visible but a good number of students drink socially. This does not mean getting drunk but just to socialize among friends and other people. No one pressurizes anyone else to drink or any such thing so that is something good!
College Sophomore 2013-02-23T05:25:50Z
Transportation is very good and convenient. There is a bus running around the perimeter of the campus throughout the day and its free! Moreover, there are other city buses going through campus which can be used by students to travel for classes for free again! Its very economical, convenient and needed.

Health & Safety:
I've never really felt unsafe here at UT. There are always people walking around on campus, even at night. The campus is usually very lively. There are a lot of events that take place on campus. A lot of these events take place outside too.

Jester is the most popular dorm. It's the most social one where a lot of freshman live and get to know each other. San Jacinto is probably the nicest dorm but most expensive. It's one of the newest dorms and is very clean with your own bathroom. The dorms are very close to classes. The best thing about living in a dorm is the convenience of walking to class and the dorm food.

The most popular off-campus housing is called West Campus. It's about a 10 to 15 minute walk to campus from your apartment. They also have a bus system that takes you to campus. The apartments are a little pricey for rooms that aren't as spacious. Some apartments are really old too. It's nice living in West Campus because almost everyone that lives there is a student at UT. The neighborhood is lively on weekends. Parking is a hassle though.

Guys & Girls:
If you are into preppy frat types UT is your school. If you are not part of that group the majority of people give you the "what are you doing here" vibe.
College Sophomore 2013-02-21T06:27:30Z
A lot of the places on The Drag are relatively expensive for a college kid with no job. There is a ton of options though, all with pretty good food.

There's two main gyms really that you can go to that supports most work-outs. And they are both nice facilities but can get crowded a lot.
College Junior 2013-02-15T20:47:53Z
Fast internet, Easy wi-fi access. Printing is a cinch, even if you don't have money on the UT ID, you can purchase a printing card for a dollar, and the printing expenses are not too much. The computers are updated and pretty fast. There are a lot of computer labs all over campus, but the one at the main library can get pretty crowded.
College Sophomore 2013-02-14T00:06:27Z
there is always something to do besides going out to parties. never bored.

There is tons of housing directly around campus, though it ca be expensive if you want your own space. There are also many options for living farther away from campus with the shuttle routes that go directly to campus from surrounding areas. You can easily do without a car.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
