The classes in my program are relatively small. Because of this, the professors are each able to get to know you on a more personal level than a big lecture style class. The people working in my program are always giving us information on the internships that they offer and are always encouraging us to get more involved.

I am a nursing major at UT. I love the program because it seems that the staff really are the most concerned with student learning and improvement, not only grades. The instructors are experienced, knowledgeable, and approachable. The only thing I do not love is the facility. It is getting a little bit old and outdated. But the important things for success are definitely in place.

We have great programs but not a strong enough student fan base, in my opinion.

Health & Safety:
I always have felt comfortable and safe on campus because I know just what to do if I feel in danger. There are police call buttons everywhere and lots of security measures in place.

Guys & Girls:
You'll find all sorts of guys at University of Texas: city boys, rednecks, all different races and lots of country boys. The girls are pretty much from everywhere all different races. They are incredibly hot, for the most part. If you aren't from around here, it'll take a little while to get used to the accent.

Austin has a lot to offer. Lake Travis for a lot of different water activities like canoeing, boating, etc. Barton springs mall, Domain for shopping. Barton springs pool, Hamilton pool, Zilker park and other places to hang out. Lots of good restaurants, both high-end and low-end. Austin is famous for food trailer too.

It is very competitive to get into some majors, but if anything this helps students to really think and be dedicated to what they choose. When I started college, I really wanted to be a business major but couldn't get into the business school. I was so bummed out, but then after my first calculus class I knew I would not have lasted in business. I am now a government major pursuing law, which has become much more of a dream to me than pursuing business. The Government major was much less competitive to get into because it falls under Liberal arts, and wont beat down my GPA to get into law school! Win-win.

The School is very strict on academic rules, but in retrograde it is one of the top schools so it is to be expected. My nutrition test required everyone to put their belongings at the front of the class, with no hats and if you have a jacket you must be wearing it and can't take it off. I does not think it affects us horribly as most students are used to the academic rigor.

There are a plethora of restaurants from many cultural entities making it truly a fun thing to find something to eat for lunch. Our large indian, chinese, and muslim populations has led to some amazing food choices!

The football games make my college experience so much fun! I love the thrill of walking up the stadium knowing I am about to watch some amazing Texas football!!

There are some pretty awesome apartments in West Campus, but they can be pretty pricey, and the landlords do not always take care of the complaints right away.

UT is ranked in the top 30 for best colleges in the world. The McCombs business school is top notch, and most professors are extremely helpful. There are a few professors that could be better, but overall, the academics at UT is amazing and the school produces the best.

There is a lot of diversity on campus, and the school encourages celebration of this diversity by allowing different cultural organizations to hold activities and events to showcase their traditions.

UT is full of greek organizations, it is a really big scene.

West campus has beautiful apartments if you can handle the price. Everything is near campus but the closer you get the more expensive it gets.
There's the option of living in Riverside, however you would have to take the bus since there is no parking around campus.

My first year I received a grant of $12 and a bunch of loans.
Don't be discouraged, it happens in every college you go to.
I applied for several private scholarships and ended up getting them, so there's ways to pay for college.
Keep a good GPA.
It will help if you are a minority and/or have low income.

Sometimes Austin gets too humid/ hot, specially at the end of the academic year (April-May).
You will see everybody in running shorts.

Kinsolving dining hall is by far the best (excluding the VIP section in J2 of course)
They are buffet style: they have chef made section, the plate of the day, wraps, then fries, hot dogs, burgers. On the other side they have veggies pasta, salad bar.
Soups, cereal and dessert are available too. Fruit cocktail or you can ask for it at the "plate of the day" section. for drinks they have soft drinks, juice (oj, apple, cranberry) and they also have milk, chocolate mink and a capucchino machine.
In JCL they have different plates and there a little bit more expensive than Kinsolving.
J2 is also buffet style, very similar to Kinsolving. The only difference is that you have the VIP line.
There are other places to eat fast food in campus, like in the Union or SAC.
They have chick fil a, tacobell, sushi, taco cabana, wendy's, etc.
Overall the food is good but nothing out of this world.

They are all Macs, but can be confusing sometimes.

If people are doing drugs, they're usually just smoking pot. Drinking is a much more popular activity.

Lots of frat parties on weekends, pretty much all bars (and other 6th street venues) are 21+
Bus rides downtown and around campus are free for students

There are a ton of athletic activities at UT, with wonderful facilities and numerous recreational places.
College Sophomore 2013-02-06T15:10:54Z
There are a lot of different races and religions at UT, and they are all accepted and have equal opportunities.
College Sophomore 2013-02-06T01:01:43Z
There are always things going on during the weekend. Even if you are under 18, there are places to go with live music.

Health & Safety:
Campus is large and there are a lot of people, there are small thefts everyday. Police does a wonderful job, we get email and text alerts when it is not safe. They test the sirens out at least once a month, these sirens set out instructions to to tell us how to get into a safe place.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
