Austin is possibly one of the best places to live. The community is beautiful and offers many community attractions, such as SXSW, ACL, Barton Springs, etc. The campus in general always has something going on, and there is an organization for every interest, from student government to cancer awareness to magic. This college is arguably a perfect fit for anyone who is seeking the next big thing.

There are many great dining options around campus. The Drag is located right by campus and features many restaurants, both chains such as Which Wich, and local places. Austin is especially friendly to vegetarians and vegans and you'll find options located on the menu pretty much anywhere you go. My favorite place is Halal Guys, which serves great middle eastern food based on the food cart in New York.

I am in the Dean's Scholars program at the University of Texas. This program is geared towards students who are interested in research in the natural sciences. There are weekly lectures by local faculty who discuss what they do, as well as many opportunities to get involved in academic research. Writing an honors thesis is a requirement for the degree.

Austin is a small but vibrant city with a strong cultural flavor that stands out from the rest of Texas. The slogan "Keep Austin Weird" is embodied by the collage of cultural that can be scene walking around in Austin. The music scene is great and plenty of unique dining experiences can be found at the many food carts popular in the city.

There is computers labs all over The University of Texas. There is some in dorms, of course in the library. Some colleges have labs just for there students. During finals most labs are crowded but you always find some if you know where to look, the less known places. You can rent laptops and the WiFi has great connection over UT.

The freshman dorms are great, you are able to choose from very different environments and types of rooms. The most common dorm for freshman are jester west and east, which are located conveniently placed near dining areas and is close to the gym and library.

Guys & Girls:
Everyone is very unique, your not judged on how you look or speak. I love that UT is very diverse and everyone is excepted. If you meet people from out of state or even country, your welcomed and people are actually intrigued by you and your culture.

There are many parking spots in the garages, but there pretty far from campus so you have to walk a long while. Also, there very little meters around campus to park and the limit is 45 min.

Financial aid at my school has been great with answering any questions I might have and I'm very blessed to be receiving financial aid.

It is great (JCL and J2) for the first few weeks, but then it gets old. I dine 1-2 times a week on Guadalupe now. I'm so tired of eating chicken.

A lot of people >:) I love seeing my Asians again. I have not seen much Asian after moving from NY. It is very multi-cultural place. Also, I never know that Asians go to church, haha. I joined a fellowship group - the people there are very friendly.

Health & Safety:
Really safe, everywhere I go I feel safe, always people around.
The workload varies from class to class but it has never been overwhelming.professors vary as well, but they are all above par and very attentive to their students. the registration process is a little crazy but i'm sure its like that at any university.

There are plenty of facilities for students on campus, but around finals time it can be very hard to find somewhere to study. Any other time besides finals time the campus is amazing and there is always something to do.

Guys & Girls:
Everybody here is extremely friendly and open about their ideals. However there are few that are extreme in their beliefs. There seems to be more attractions to follow certain trends and at times is frowned upon to stick out.

The Greek life is well known for wild parties and drinking. However there are some cases of hazing and breaking up of parties by law enforcement. There is some stress on keeping a certain degree of GPA but there is more stress on attending socials. Also Greek life seems to isolate itself from non-Greek life.
College Sophomore 2012-12-16T15:39:55Z
The computers are extremely useful and have great access to most programs. However at times they run slow and there is a limited number of computers available for use.

Cafeterias in dorms allow the use of Dine-In dollars if you live in a dorm. If not, you can always use Bevo Bucks or cash/card. There are plenty of places to choose from to eat on campus as well as on the drag.

Transportation by bus is free for UT students! There are scheduled times you can look up online to see when the busses come to certain bus stops. If walking alone at night, you can call SURE Walk to have someone walk with you for safety reasons.

There is a large variety of different ethnic backgrounds, however, less African Americans than I expected.

The dining halls really try for better quality food, but it's not the cheapest. They also aren't open late hours, leaving just fast food as an option many times.

Bars and clubs are almost all 21 and up, but but there are tons of parties in nearby neighborhoods for those who still want some late night fun. Once you hit 21 though, it is much better as Austin has a plethora of cool bars.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
