Guys & Girls:
The guys range from the normal Southern Boys to city boys to hipsters. I would say Southern Boys/rednecks are the smallest percent though. The girls are very attractive and there are plenty of options to pick from here. The most attractive are usually involved in greek life though. Most look for casual dating/hook-ups from what I've experianced.

There are several busses for each route that you can take free of charge. The wait is really short like 5 min on average.
College Junior 2012-11-28T15:48:56Z
The computers are really great. There are hundreds scattered around in different buildings. You just gotta know where to go

You will never find a parking spot unless you come to campus at like 7:00 AM. Your best bet is probably just to find a parking spot near a shuttle bus to campus if it is too far to walk to the bus stop.
College Sophomore 2012-11-28T07:05:36Z
There are a variety of buses that stop around campus and go to different locations around the school. It's very convenient because many of these bus stops are located near the dorms so it's especially easy for students to wake up, head outside, and ride the bus to faraway class buildings. The public bus transportation has a route planner online for many popular locations such as malls around the city for students who like to venture off campus.

This would have been an easy A+ if we were talking purely about the Greek Community. But UT is a very divided campus socially, and it's difficult not to notice the sort of "class" distinctions that exist based on the way people dress. To summarize: most of the students, especially girls, who are in sororities are very good looking. The same could be said for the fraternities, but being a guy I can't say too much. For those not in the greek system, it's very hit or miss. And for some reason, the whole greek outfits thing tends to make people seem more attractive.

Austin is weird, but in a way that can seem kind of forced at times. That said, there is always something going on: festivals downtown, concerts at Stubb's or Antone's, ACL etc. I can't give higher than an A- because of the often cavalier attitude of Austinites who are too self-conscious of their "interesting" city. These people are a necessary evil I suppose, but it's best to steer clear of these so called "neck beards".
College Sophomore 2012-11-21T17:16:50Z
Austin is a phenomenal culmination of live music. Between ACL, Fun Fun Fun fest, South by Southwest, and the innumerable live music venues, there is always something to see. Austin itself has everything a big city would, but it's got such a rich and diverse community. With a slogan like "Keep Austin Weird", you know you're bound to find something to suit your interests.

I live in one of the smallest dorms on campus, but it has such a community atmosphere. The quiet ones actually tend to be some of the most fun, surprisingly. The only downside to the dorm is the cost, which is roughly 7-8 hundred a month. I lucked out with an exceptional roommate and my some of the best friends I've made in college are the people living in my hall. The dorm is highly recommended at least for your first year at college.

Parking is awful. Many of the parking garages are far away from the dorms and you can only park for 30 minute intervals if you want to park near the dorms.

ALOT to choose from. The price is average for an offcampus housing. Its recommended you get a roommate though. There are more amneties in offcampus housing than on campus. There are also alot of bus routes that go there.

Lots of choices, but not enough housing for everyone. There were alot on the waiting list this year.

UT used to be number 1 for party school. The downtown area have many things to do. There's live music in most shops. You will never get bored in Austin. The city's motto is Keep Austin Weird, and we really stick to that.

Everyone treats each other with respect. This is why I love UT. I'm Russian myself. People accept you no matter who you are.

I'm an Architecture major and it is among the hardest programs in terms of workload here at UT. Professors are very helpful though, and coming in with credit never hurts

Public transportation is really good around UT. They have buses running all the time, and if you need a bus to pick you up late at night, then there's a number you can call, and they'll come get you whenever you need them.

The police force can be pretty strict about underage drinking and drug use. First-time offenders get a letter sent home, and second- and third-time offenders are in danger of losing their housing. It's pretty serious if you get caught, so my best advice is to do everything discreetly and not to be obnoxious about it. If you're going to drink then drink, but don't start advertising keg parties in your room. You will get busted!

The fan base at UT is HUGE! The football games are so fun and spirited, and the campus is really alive- especially on a game day! We have a wide range of sports, from rowing to swimming to football and everything in between. With your Longhorn All-Sports Pass, you can get tickets to all the games, so be sure to buy one if that is something you are going to want!

The slogan "Keep Austin Weird" is all about supporting local businesses, and 'The Drag' (the portion of Guadalupe Street immediately west of campus), and West Campus area are crawling with locally owned restaurants.
College Sophomore 2012-11-16T04:59:36Z
UT is in a very urban area of Austin, and has an endless list of things to do. Known as the "Live Music Capitol of the World", you can always find a concert to go to, or a restaurant with a musician, no matter what day of the week it is!
Sorry, there are no reviews.
