There are always university buses that go through our campus and is free for any UT student or staff. City buses also come right through campus and you can take them to nearly any place off campus. You can also rent out cars.

Guys & Girls:
There are lots of handsome and courteous guys here on UT campus. Because our campus is so large, there are often many guys and girls exercising and keeping fit by jogging, biking, or going to the free gym.

The athletics here are great. I'm a big football fan and I have season tickets to all the home games. They make it pretty affordable for students. The other athletic teams are great too. Our volleyball, basketball, and golf teams are good just to name a few. The athletics here really play a big role in spirit on campus. It's definitely one of my favorite aspects.

Parking is absolutely absurd. The prices are really high to be able to park in a garage, and the garages are not very convenient. Also, on home football game days, you have to more your car out of the garages and on to a specified lot. Which, by the way, are not close. I didn't even bring a car this year for this year. The streets are so packed with students, you really can't drive your car through the campus anyway.

The campus definitely has policies, but there doesn't seem to be a lot of enforcement. UT has it's own police system, but they're often patrolling. As long as a student is not putting him/herself or others in danger, their actions are often ignored. I've seen drunk people walking around campus and police don't stop them or anything. The main key is to be discreet and not act crazy.

It transportation isn't bad. It's sticks to a pretty regular schedule and it can be handy. It's not that great if you're on a tight schedule to get somewhere. If you don't feel like walking, it's fine, but if you need to be somewhere by a certain time it's definitely better to walk. The buses are often crowded and it makes tons of stops, so it takes a while to get where you're going.

There are several options. The problem is that some of them are kind of spread out. If you live on the North side of campus, you don't have as many options unless you want to eat off campus. The food is pretty good. The menu's rarely change, so sometimes it gets fairly old. There are also a few fast food options on campus like Wendy's, Chick-Fil-A, Taco Cabana, and more.

West Campus has a lot of co-ops and frat houses, lots of parties. Then there is 6th street downtown with a lot of options for students. The city is full of things to do at night.

Guys & Girls:
The girls at UT Austin are drop dead gorgeous. I go to class every day marveling at how much eye candy there is. With 50,000 students we have everything from Southern blondes to cute, artsy girls to bikini models. With year round warm weather, girls look good in what they wear as well, and I think on game days this is especially true. UT students are luckily also fairly liberal when it comes to sex and partying is a way of life here, if you want it to be.

The UT diversity is crazy. There is all types of races, ethnicities, and origins here. Sexual orientation is also really diverse here from gay to transgender to bisexual. Religious beliefs are very varied too and the number of different churches nearby reflects that. Finally, although Texas is mostly conservative Republicans, Austin is a liberal "island" and students at UT have a wide range of political beliefs.

Health & Safety:
I feel really safe on the UT campus. There are police "call for help"s everywhere, and UT Police does a good job of helping students out. Yes there was a "shooting" recently but UT Police, Austin Police, State Troopers, Highway Patrol, Sheriffs, Constables, and every police you could imagine were there within the hour. We are in the capital of Texas so we have 4 levels of police in the city. I feel truly very safe.

I love the convenience of living on campus! You make so many new friends, there are programs to educate you and help you socialize, and there is lots of free stuff :)
Also you can get up for class 5 minutes before your class begins and still be on time. There is in addition the benefit of having a meal plan and discounted meal dollars.

Austin is the greatest city in the US, hands down! As a partier, I love 6th Street and believe it has the best nightlife anywhere. All the bars are free for 21+ and people bar hop to get the best deals. People on 6th Street look really hot, and girls easily get free drinks. Students even have access to the "E-bus" which transports people from campus to downtown for free and includes puke bags. Midnight Rodeo is a wonderful country dance hall with lots of students. Music lovers can take advantage of being in the music capital of the world. Nature lovers enjoy 200+ parks, the scenic Lake Travis, camping, kayaking, floating the river, Barton Springs, and more. There are plenty of malls and shops for the shoppers, and intramural and varsity sports are obviously huge here. There is something for everyone!

The gym at UT is excellent! There are more than 5 gyms on campus but the main one is Gregory. This 3-floor gym features weight rooms, treadmills, rock climbing, zumba, karate, kickboxing, aqua classes, yoga, indoor pools, outdoor pools including a sports pool, lap pool, and leisure pool; basically everything you could ever want is there including tent rentals and more! The cafeterias are delicious and have 2 all-you-can-eat places as well. Most importantly, the social scene at UT is unparalleled. There is always something to do and people here study hard, play hard. 6th Street is great on the weekend for bars, and our giant library is great for studying on weekdays.

Transportation is good on campus, and it will take you anywhere you want to go. However, one popular route known as "West Campus" is so popular there is usually no room on the bus during peak times. City transportation has its flaws but it's free for students to use. The best thing is the E-bus, which takes students from popular living areas straight to downtown free of charge and with puke bags on weekends, so we can avoid drinking and driving. The E-bus is always wild and an experience not to be missed.

The weather at UT is simply amazing. You get over 300 days of sunshine a year and it hardly ever rains here. It is mid October now and we are still in the 80s. I did not wear a jacket last year until December (when the semester was over). If you enjoy year-long summer with times of winter to mix it up, the weather here is ideal. However if you want to take summer classes and can't stand 100+ heat, you may need to adjust. The temperature never goes above 110 though, and the low humidity makes the temperatures bearable. Just keep in mind that in the summer there is always the huge number of pools and Barton Springs available to students.

The computers at UT are fast, easy to use, and easy to find. They are pretty much in every building and every school/college with discounted printing for students. There is also an IT desk that will help you with any technology issues you may have. The big library on campus is now open 24-5 so you can access it on weekdays at any time with a huge room full of computers. The campus internet is super fast and reliable as well.

I have heard a lot of stories about the sororities and fraternities and it is not all good. We even got an email from the school showing that most of the greek houses participated in some sort of hazing.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
