First Come, First Serve – Need to apply early!! You will need to apply for FAFSA as soon as possible and also, there is a separate scholarships application that you will need to fill out. As long as you apply early and have a low EFC, you will get the best aid.

Since classes are located on different buildings, you will need to walk a lot. You should prepare to bring an umbrella during the summer so you can protect your skin since it can get pretty hot. Also, try to bring extra clothing so you can feel comfortable and sweat free. The Fall weather is fine but Spring is cold!

Health & Safety:
I only have attended orientation from this school and so far, I am impressed by the UTPD. They are offering free self defense classes/activities so we can protect ourselves when needed. I feel that my stay at UT would provide me a safe haven while I focus on academics. :)

I'm new to UT this year, but i've learned of all the easy and affordable transportation UT offers. I live in San Antonio and on fridays there is a bus that will drive me to a park in ride close to where i live and pick me up the following sunday and take me back to campus for twenty dollars. There is tons of transportation opportunities the campus offers!

They Can Be Slow – The computers are great for the most part, but during peak times they can be understandably slow. Wifi is unimpressive at UT.

If your their only to party then I cannot help. There are plenty of places, but none that I would recommend. Just walking by I am usually offended by the things going on. I try and work or stay in home at night. But the Capital looks pretty cool at night from what I have seen in pictures. I have never walked by it at night.

Follow the Steps – I turned the application barely on time and forgot to do the resume section. So, then I had to send in an appeal letter. I think I was lucky and that God was on my side. But if you follow their steps there is a chance to get in. If you mess up, don't give up. Keep trying!

Theres a saying in Texas. If you don't like the weather, wait an hour. the unpredictable weather can be frustrating, but it's sure to be a relief for anyone dealing with snow storms up north. It doesn't get too cold here.

Excellent! Something for Everyone! Thee food in Ausin is incedible. There really is every kind of restraint imaginable. It can get kindof pricy if you're not careful, but student discounts help.

You can't beat the nightlife in Austin. There is such a great variety of people to see and hang out with. Everyone is wild and crazy and fun!!

Not Strict – As long as you aren't blatantly drunk on the street, no one will say anything to you.

A lot of people come to Austin for the parties. 6th street is very popular because it's just a street full of bars and clubs. On the weekends this place is very lively. Most places are 21 and up but sometimes they have club parties for 18+ but require you to pay cover. If you don't have a car to get to 6th street there's always the e-bus that is free for students. It takes you right to 6th street from campus.

Very Hot Summers – This is Texas so the weather is random at times. Once it gets close to summer and in the summer time Austin is scorching hot.

Everything Worked Out – I did FAFSA and UT really made it easy. They allow you to keep track of the process and your financial aid comes in on time. Just make sure you complete the things required and they put it in list form sort of like a checklist to let you know.

I Love It Here – UT Austin is great! Weird things go on around here that keep things interesting. There's so many campus events going on that will drive your school pride. Our football team has always been popular and going to games is an experience worth experiencing. The people here are great. Food is excellent in Austin especially food trucks. I would choose to come to Austin all over again because this is where I found my friends and experienced all the great memories that I have today.

UT Is the Best. I loved UT's atmosphere even before I was admitted. Awesome place to be....

Eh. Ok. Not Stellar. The dining halls are pretty good, but the meal plan does not include enough money to eat at a dining hall for every meal. Markets in Jester and Kinsolving offer a more limited but more accessible source of on campus food. But the prices are high enough that the meal plan won't last the whole year if you eat there every day. A couple food carts and restaurants in the area also take the meal plan, and these are good if you crave something different.

Plan II Honors and College of Liberal Arts – I am in the Plan II Honors Program, which is its own degree. My college and degree both offer programs and activities. The College of Liberal Arts has a good career center with people who know how to tweak resumes and work on interview skills. The Plan II program has a lot of activities for its students, like ice cream socials and day trips. The Plan II class load is cross-curricular and interesting. Some classes are in classrooms, some are seminar-style.

They're OK, but Move Out ASAP – I lived in Kinsolving, because I wanted a quiet and semi-small living space. It was exactly what I wanted. Overall, the dorms are generally nice, though some are older than others. The cost is outrageous, so I am moving off-campus next semester. It was a good experience, so I recommend it if one can swing the money for it, but move out as soon as you can. The dorms are fun to live in; their staff regularly put on events. They really are teeny tiny communities.

Austin Is Awesome – World class academics. Professors who know what they are talking about. Registration is kind of a crapshoot, but I don't think that's really any different at other large universities. Lots of libraries and places to meet for group study. Overall, a good atmosphere for academics to do their thing.

Austin Is Awesome – Austin is a happy city and a fun place to live and study. Festivals happen nearly every weekend, and many of then are free to enter. The public transportation system is extensive, and also free with a student ID. Everyone loves UT students.

Health & Safety:
Safe for a Large Campus – UT is definitely one of the safer large universities. You're living in the middle of a city on a huge campus; as long as you keep that in mind and take appropriate precautions, you should be safe. Petty theft is common. Don't leave stuff unattended in public places, lock your room when you leave, etc. Try not to walk outside alone at night. The campus police are responsive and usually helpful.

Most of the Labs Are in Dark Crowded Rooms – The computers at the labs are fairly good. My only complaint is that most of them are located in older buildings, inside of small crowded rooms. The library is the only building that I know of that has a big lab with plenty of space.

Computer Science Research Program Is Great – My very first semester I was invited to do research with the FRI(Freshmen Research Initiative). The research counts for upper division course credit and exposes you to some pretty cool stuff in the Computer Science Field. I got to work on a Autonomous Car that the University is working on, and work alongside graduate students and other professors. Definitely a great experience, and one that is unique to this University. No other University allows it's freshman students to work on research.

Had to Apply Three Times, Before Application Was Reviewed. The first two times I applied, my application did not go through the review process. In both cases there was some minor issue with my application and it was marked incomplete. The first time was because my transcript did not have an original signature on it, it was faxed by my parents in Mexico. Once my application got through on the third time, I was accepted.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
