Great Student Life at UT – UT is full of places for students to meet and interact. Gregory Gym is a great place to work out. The Student Activities Center and The Union offer places for students to study and meet, and there are plenty of green spaces on campus for students to relax or play extreme frisbee.

UT Is Very Diverse – As most people assume, UT is a very diverse university. There are people of all races, sexual orientations, and religions on campus. It is a great place to become more tolerant of others, which I think is very important. There are also many groups on campus that support the diversity of others, which I think is great.

UT Supports the Arts – My school's art programs are exceptional compared to most around the country. I am a Theatre and Dance Design major, and we have one of the best programs in the country. Our excellent film program also allows the theatre students a chance to dabble in the film arts.

There are a few relatively expensive garages/lots students can get passes for. Apartments and Private Dorms also have their own garages. However, in the city, it is hard to find parking. Without a parking permit, don't event think about driving to campus. Also, the tickets are ridiculous. Once I left my car in a 30 minute parking zone and was under 5 minutes late due to horrible rain. There was already a nice parking ticket waiting.

There is usually no where to park anywhere on campus or in campus. There are a lot of limitations and restrictions on the parking spots and they are very expensive. Unless you use your car to go home (if you live off campus) or to get groceries, I would suggest not bringing your car to school. They have a great bus system!

Health & Safety:
Great Police Department – Everyday the University of Texas Police Department sends out an email reporting on the previous night's crimes and lists different ways to prevent any of the crimes from happening to you. I always feel safe on campus because there are police on watch all day.

Many Options but Repetitive – The food on campus is decent. I enjoyed most of the food but after a while I did not know what to eat because I was so tired of eating the same food over and over again. DO NOT eat food from the dining halls during finals. They use the leftovers because they need to get rid of them and they don't restock on the food. I got food poisoning because of it.

Engineering is a great major to be in at UT. Every fall there is an event called EXPO to get an internship for the summer. You meet with representatives from different companies and obtain interviews. There is also free tutoring available for engineers(:

The computers at UT are Apple and it is easier to have a Macbook to downlowad the same programs and save documents that you worked on in the computer lab. Wireless access works fine.

Good School – I love the campus. There are some very good professors but there are also some professors that should not be teaching. Going to class discussion is very important and tutoring also helps.

Guys & Girls:
A Flavor for Every Taste – No matter what your type is, you'll find it at UT. I would say focus on your academics. But hey, you're in college so either sit back and enjoy the scenery or go talk to the guys/gals and make an impact as well as new friends.

So Much Culture – There's a piece of home in Austin for every student. A lot of activities are offered to tourists and students. Many of these activities are free on campus. The State Capital is a sight to see in the evening. And there are quite a few things that can only be done in Austin. But I won't spoil the surprise. Come and see for yourself.

Impact Accomplished – Greeks may not dominate UT but they definitely contribute and make an impact on campus. Step shows and probates are a sight to see.

Always a Place to Go or Something to Do – The Library is huge along with all the building (everyone of them has a place to relax and study or just hang out). The gym is amazing and huge and the pools are amazing. I use the athletic facility around twice a week and the library almost everyday. The campus is beautiful and things are really close by. The food on campus and around is great.

Keep Austin Weird – Austin is overall a really weird place. Anybody can be anybody without question. There isn't a norm to go by. Nobody is out of place. There is always and I mean always something to do. Being a part of the school and any program is the easiest thing to do and making friends and simple too just because everybody is so welcoming in Austin and at UT.

Only around 20 percent of my friends are part of the Greek life and they love it, and my friends that aren't in Greek life also love college. It isn't a big deal if you are in a frat or sorority, as long as you love where u are and who u surround your self with then it is an all around good atmosphere. The frats and sororities also sometimes just give a good vibe all around campus to though who aren't in Greek life.

Considering the Austin roads, parking can be quite a problem. That is, the roads are very narrow and it is nearly impossible to find parking spots even if you do have parking passes. However, it helps to live off campus and have parking passes to the garages which are usually reserved parking spots. However, if you do not live off campus and are looking for parking, don't be surprised if you get a few parking tickets!

West Campus – Given UT's culture and location in Austin, there are several places to eat off-campus if you're tired of the dorm food. Along the outskirts of campus called "the drag," are several chain restaurants that are safe picks. However, if you're more into exploring, there are several Austin-only or Texas-limited places to eat at. One of the more popular choices is Pluckers which is a wing bar that originated at UT and has expanded to several other locations. Also, if you're willing to travel a little further to Round Rock, there is the one and only Salt Lick as seen on Man v. Food, known for its all-you-can-eat barbecue.

UT Austin Physics Program – Physics is a great way to go if you are eager in trying to discover the underlying principles that govern physical phenomena. However, physics can get a little overwhelming and complicated at times, but it isn't something that can't be conquered without persistence and hard work. The only major downfall I see with the physics program (and any other major in the field of natural sciences at UT) is that it heavily limits you on double majoring. I believe that colleges should create degree programs that encourage and not discourage double majoring, especially considering the world that we live in where many people do not always keep the same jobs. Nonetheless, the physics degree program is a very challenging but at the same time very worthwhile.

City Livin – UT Austin is located so close to downtown that there's plenty to do. There are things like South Congress which has a lot of original eateries and shops, as well as 6th Street for the nightlife. All students can ride the bus to and from these and many other locations for free! During football season, every weekend is about Longhorn football. I definitely recommend going to games as they are a lot of fun! There's really so much you could do in Austin that I know I'm forgetting about a lot of things to type about...

Nothing Special, Eat at the Buffets – So, it's pretty standard. It doesn't have the amazingness that SMU has. Theirs is the best one I've seen ever; however, it does the job. The common mistake students make is eating at Jester all the time. Don't do it. You'll waste all your "BevoBucks" very quickly. Try eating at the buffets. They're cheaper and you can stuff your face more. Don't be the one who wastes their meal plan in one semester...

Awesome but I'd Go Elsewhere – I love it here. I've met so many amazing people and a handful of great teachers. However, I regret not going to a more dominating film program in California. If I could do it all over, I'd have applied more places there. However, social life is not a worry here. Greek Life is explosive, Austin is always live, and there's SERIOUSLY always something to do. You'll have lots of fun and make some mistakes just remember why you're here, to eventually graduate!

Cheap and Local – If you live in west campus you have a variety of close food places to choose from. The best part is that it reigns from a large selection of local places that have a great range in diversity to your large chains of fast food.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
