One of the Best State Schools – Even though UT comes under the broad category of state school and large campus, there is room for everyone. Its one of the most beautiful campus I have visited and Austin is the place to be! (With SXSW and ACL)
You might never get of UT and the people around because there are sooo many people to meet and make friends with, keep my word for it.

Greek life is a big culture that is interwound in UT. I am not into greek life myself and if you are one such person like me, you have nothing to worry about. Being a big school, UT gives everyone their right to express their likes and dislikes.

During Round-Up and Rush week the Greek life bleeds into the non-greek life. Other than that if you are involved in the greek life seems to comprise much of your life but if not there are many, many other options in which to get involved and meet people on campus. Not to mention, not all the greek letter orgs on campus are fraternal organizations

ATX Fun – Austin has always had a lively tradition as a city of music. This is not a mistaken identity. 6th street has lots to offer in terms of entertainment. There are many restaurants and bars of all types, so there is something for everyone. In addition, because of the size of the university, there is large concentration of young people and young professionals in the area that make the Austin nightlife very enjoyable.

Professors and TA's in the Cockerell School of Engineering – The professors withing the Cockerell School of Engineering have been exceptional. They are all so willing to help almost anytime they are in their offices and genuinely want to help their students become the best engineers that they can be. The TA's within the school are also very helpful. My experience has shown me that they are always very knowledgeable.

to what has most amplified my experience at ut austin, the diversity of scene and self expression really makes this school unique
College Sophomore 2012-04-07T03:45:23Z
the school is great for socializing and meeting new friends, but some students are rather timid when it comes to talking
College Sophomore 2012-04-07T03:43:45Z
there is a variety of different organizations that students can be a part of that in no way render them from being accepted by any groups.

Keep Austin Weird! As I mentioned Austin is known for its weird atmosphere so here on campus diversity is widely accepted. Everyone is usually pretty friendly and there is a lot of people on campus so many are just trying to make many new friends. Everyone has there own beliefs, background, status, and etc. but people are hardly judged because of that. Here at the University of Texas, we all keep an open mind and accept people for who they are.

So Many Places to Much Out in! There are so many places to go to off campus that are very close by. Many of them are walking distant and some even accept "Bevo Bucks" which are like student discounts. There are many more places to check out deeper into downtown which a bus can take you in if you lack trasportation. And there are restaurants open super late at night when most places are are already closed like Kerbey Lane which is super delicious.

Fun, Crazy, and Awesome! The city of Austin is the place you want to be in if you plan to have an amazing experience. When they say "keep Austin weird" they are not kidding about that. Austin is definitely weird but very amusing. Plus, the capital is right down town so thats always a great place to visit. The street to party in if you do not already know is 6th Street so I encourage you to come out and visit the city and you will not regret it!

Multiple libraries, some focused on a certain field of study. Many student centers and the gyms are immense and well equipped.

Downtown Austin – The campus is located in the middle of downtown Austin which always has something going on. You can never be bored because there is always the chance to do something.

Top football team in the US and an awesome basketball team! It's fun to support your team at the games or in local bars.

Guys & Girls:
UT Guys and Girls – UT students are an interesting mix of fun, smart, and unique! Like most schools, we have people who like to either study or party all day. However, at UT we have a large number who know how to do both!

UT Faciliites – The campus at UT Austin is a sprawling 40 acres. The inside of the buildings are similar to other colleges, but the architecture of many buildings has an old Spanish flair that adds to the experience of walking around campus. And there is green space on campus for playing soccer and laying out in the sun to study.

Weather is usually sunny and does not get in the way of everyday life.

Guys & Girls:
Not What You Expect. Around campus, you see many frat boys/sorority girls. Frats are where the ugly boys go to get friends and sororities are where pretty girls with attitudes go to get friends.

UT Austin has the hardest science courses in Texas. Freshman year is particularly difficult because it is a "weed out" year.

Bus Is Convenient – Bus is free to students. Lots of traffic when driving.
College Senior 2012-04-02T19:26:52Z
Tons of Food. There are tons of fast food places around campus to eat, as well as many restaurants. Also, many chain restaurants are easy to get to on the bus.

Health & Safety:
City Crime Is Typical – The University is in the middle of downtown, so crime is expected. Campus police do their best to keep students well informed and up to date about crime around campus. The most common crime is stolen bikes.

The financial aid process is somewhat not convenient at UT. It is an expensive school and not much aid or grants are given out to students by the university itself. Tips would be to seek outside scholarships not affiliated with UT Austin.

UT has a wide range of athletics, and for those not involved in the sports teams, there are many intramural sports that you can join. There is everything including 8 enormous athletic facilities throughout campus.
